Moderna and Arbutus are going head to head in the court of appeals in 4 weeks. If it settles beforehand I could see Moderna stock pop. This is what happened during the original settlement in March. The amount at stake is $1.3B. Any settlement for less than $1B will probably be viewed positively.
Oral hearing set for November to resolve the $1.3 billion. How much (if any) of this is priced in? Does a win/loss of the appeal move the stock?
So I am expecting to get $500k lump sum in the next few weeks. What should I do with this if unsure about medium term future (over 2 years) in Canada? Do I need to split this money over multiple accounts in case banks fail? Is there an ideal short term place to put money for a year or so?38 years old if that makes any difference.

- 38 married , 2 young kids, single income family
-80k in RBC select balance. Employer matched scheme.
-100k in direct investing. Sitting as cash as I sold the individual stocks today.
- About to come into around 500k inheritance
-Own No property or even a car.
-Have around 70k RRSP room and 70k room for TFSA
-Wife also has 70k TFSA room
-Likely will not be in the country much more than 3 years
Do I need a financial advisor or planner? What would you guys do here?
