Tapering off Valium

Hey everyone. I'm a 34 (F). I had acute anxiety last year Dec 2025. Multiple panic attacks, dissociation - basically really bad anxiety that stopped me in my tracks. I was initially prescribed valium to deal with how bad my anxiety got but unfortunately I grew a dependence on it and still currently taking it. I initially was taking 3 x 5mg a day. I have gotten down to 1 x 3.5mg in morning and 2mg at night. BUT sometimes there will be set backs with my anxiety and I'll have to take an extra 1 or 2 mg, sometimes more. I am very open about all of this with my doctor and psychologist and they've reassured me it is possible to taper off valium but it can be a slow process.

ALSO important to note: I'm taking the antidepressent, sertraline, 50mg a day. It has helped with my anxiety quite a lot but I am considering increasing the dose to 75mg. I feel like maybe that may help to taper off valium?

Anyway long story short - my main concern is the valium, has anyone gone through something similar? I am so scared about my dependence on it, it really helps my anxiety in the short term but yeah my reliance on it is getting concerning. Any help or guidance would be really appreciated 🙌💙💙
