1987 Rockhopper

Had some buyer’s remorse after picking this up, as I thought I might’ve overpaid. After a little clean up I think I did alright ($75). Appears to be largely original, with minimal surface rust. I already replaced the seat, the other was crumbling. Still need to do a full tear down and cleaning, but it rides surprisingly well.

I’ve never worked with a U-brake before. Figure I’ll redo all the cables and housing, new grips, and pads.

This vintage is new to me. Any recommendations on what I should look at first? Things I should keep an eye on?

Steel is real…heavy…but the ride is comfy and compliant!

Edit - was only worried I’d overpaid cuz it was VERY dirty. Like had sat in the corner of a garage for 20 years, caked in dust and cobwebs.
