Heads up on Bonobos returns
I tried Bonobos for some online shopping a few months ago, despite seeing many complaints about quality. Overall I didn’t think the items were bad, they just didn’t fit. So I sent them all back and this is where Bonobos lost me as a customer forever. When I sent the box back I made sure to keep an eye on the tracking, and it got there well before the 45 day date for a cash refund.
Well then it sat at their warehouse, I presume, until last Wednesday when I got the email that it would be processed for a return. After a few days I still hadn’t seen the cash returned so I sent a message to them asking for cash instead of a store credit. nothing.
So I sent a chat today and asked for my cash refund, and the agent said no because it was past the 45 days. Well I explained I had returned it within the window, it had arrived within the window, and I sent them their own tracking number to prove it. Still got push back because they said it hadn’t been processed within the 45 day window. That’s because they sat on it to get over that hump! When I threatened a charge back is when they immediately reversed course and issued the refund.
It felt like slimy tactics to keep my cash internal as credit. Not a fan, won’t use them again.
If you use them and make returns, be sure to hang onto your tracking data and keep an eye on their processing dates / the return window.
