Which one?
This is more so a post helping me decide which series to continue.
I just finished a reread of The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman (read it around the time The Daughter’s War came out, but never bothered to continue the series until now) and I’m debating whether I want to continue with The Daughter’s War, or if I should pivot and pick up the second book in James Islington’s Licanus Trilogy. Note: I read The Shadow of What Was Lost back in March while on a vacation, which might have been part of my indifference towards it at the time, and I really want to give it another shot.
Both first books have been decent for me, but I haven’t felt any real urge to read the next book in either. However, I am definitely a series completionist, and I WILL finish both eventually (I know Buelhman’s series isn’t complete yet, but I believe the next book comes out sometime this year and I want to be prepared). So, if anyone has read both and can make the choice of which one to read after my current book for me, please help me out 😂
Current read to take a brief respite from epic/dark fantasy is Kidnapped Souls by Tara Zahra, and I highly recommend it for any nonfiction fans out there.
