Upbeat-sounding 90s-2010s pop rock music

Hi. I would love song recommendations for upbeat-sounding 90s-2010s pop rock or in that vein. Here are a few examples:

No Doubt- Spiderwebs, Sunday Morning

The Cranberries- Stars, Just My Imagination

Paramore- Ain't It Fun

Florence and the Machine- Dog Days Are Over

Also, it does not have to be female-fronted bands, even though the examples happen to be.

Songs guaranteed to get everyone dancing at a party?

I know it depends on the audience (whether it's a nightclub, school dance, or wedding), but there are several that come to mind for me like Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO, Low by Flo Rida/T-Pain, Let's Get It Started by Black Eyed Peas, and DJ Got Us Falling in Love by Usher/Pitbull to name a few.

Witchy Suggestions?

Hi all! I've really been diving into my feminine side lately, and by that, I mean, a combination of rage and let me just go live in a cottage in the woods and become a local legend the kids tell spooky stories about around Halloween, while all I'm really doing is nurturing my love of gardening, solitude, and reading.

ANYWAY!

I want to make a playlist of some songs that give witchy vibes. I'll gladly take all recommendations because I love music, and the more the better, however, if there is anything with Stevie Nicks, Florence + the Machine, Paris Paloma, Celtic Women vibes. . . I'm especially down for those.

Music app recommendations?

What are people's suggestions for music streaming apps? I used Spotify for 8 years but I can't stand the AI junk they're implementing and YouTube Music isnt far off. I've been using Tidal, which I do enjoy a lot, but they're raising prices to 14.99 a month out of nowhere and they don't have the playlist features that Spotify has. I don't like that the second you didn't pay for Apple Music it deleted all your downloads and you had to go resave all your playlists. Am I being too picky? What do you guys use?

20/100 completed. Need recommendations to keep my summer album marathon going.

I’m currently doing a challenge to listen to 100 albums over the summer. I just hit the 20-album mark and want to inject some fresh, high-quality music into the rotation.

I’m open to any genre, era, or country, as long as the album is cohesive and well-executed. Hit me with your absolute favorites—the ones you think are essential listens.

What should I add to the queue next?

Artists or songs that use a moody spoken word style with conversational lyrics

Hey all,

I've been recently been interested into getting artists that use a spoken word style which focuses more on lyricism that feature a conversational tone. This does not imply that a song has to be purely spoken word with some minor instrumentation or pure poetry. Singing is fine as long as it is just a part of a song.

Moody does not imply that it has to be always dark, it should just incorporate a sense of emotion.

Conversational lyrics or tone implies that the lyrics may come off as a conversation or inner monologue. It doesn't have to be poetry or super deep in terms of lyricism.

I especially enjoy it if there is some narrative or weird story mixed up in the track.

I'm pretty open to anything but would love to hear some great suggestions!

Cheers!

Here are some examples:

Robocobra Quartet - Correct (this is probably the exact type I'm looking for)

Soul Coughing - Screenwriter's Blues (pretty much what I want more of)

Archy Marshall - Arise Dear Brother (not sure if this is qualifiable as rapping but it does fit into what I'm looking for)

Jim Morrison - An American Prayer (a classic, perhaps a bit poetic but I like it)

Father John Misty - Josh Tillman and the Accidental Dose (this may border on singing but it gets the conversational tone across rather well)

Pan Amsterdam - Lotion Song

Songs like Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”.

I’m looking for that inspirational feeling I get at the end of My Way. Whatever the battle was, it’s over and I’ve won. (And did it Myyyyyy way)

Looking for breakup songs/albums that feel like apologies + heavy nostalgia (similar to Frank Ocean, Jack Johnson, Sunbeam Sound Machine)

After almost 3 years with this girl I fell hard for in November during a perfect crisp fall, we broke up over a month ago. I’m down in the dumps right now and can’t stop replaying the memories.
Self Control and White Ferrari by Frank Ocean have been hitting insanely hard lately because of how perfect the songwriting is. Also Broken by Jack Johnson and In Your Arms by Sunbeam Sound Machine — those were our old times, songs we loved together.

I’m looking for more songs or albums that lean into reminiscing on memories, regret, and quietly apologizing for how things went down — without the “she’s evil / I’m the victim” angle. Just raw, atmospheric, reflective heartbreak.
Anything in the indie, R&B, soul, or singer-songwriter world would be perfect. Drop your suggestions, I’m reading every comment tonight.
Thanks guys.
