Freida Rothman selling “Vault Collection” that can be brought off AliExpress or Alibaba
I genuinely don’t understand how some jewelry sellers keep getting away with this. They buy mass-produced pieces off sites like AliExpress and Alibaba for literal pennies, then go live acting like everything came from some exclusive “vault” collection or secret family source. Meanwhile, you can reverse image search half the stuff and find the exact same pieces wholesale in five minutes.
The craziest part is how heavily they hype the “rarity” and “quality” to justify insane prices. Calling something “custom,” “one of a kind,” or “from the vault” doesn’t magically make it special when it’s sitting in bulk lots online. A lot of buyers are paying for the story and branding without realizing the item itself is cheap mass production.
And before anyone says “all boutiques source wholesale,” yes, obviously. The issue is the marketing. There’s a difference between curating products and pretending they’re rare heirloom pieces with made-up backstories. If you’re charging luxury prices for Alibaba jewelry, at least be transparent about it.
What makes it worse is watching other sellers in the same circle do the exact same thing and hype each other up like it’s normal. The whole “exclusive drop” culture starts looking real different once you’ve spent enough time on wholesale sites.
