Anyone who could evaluate my writing task 2, it was a discussion essay.

In recent times, world has been changing at a rapid pace sparking debate amongst people whether to demolish the old public infrastructure as it costs huge in maintenance or to retain these buildings as it preserves heritage, culture and traditions. I agree with the latter view, because these historical buildings play a very crucial role in protecting a country’s culture, craftsmanship and generates economic opportunities for the local communities.

On the one hand, people believe governments spend a huge amount of money to maintain these poor and old buildings to keep up with the modern world. While the same amount of money could be invested into other essential sectors like healthcare, education and public transit to improve the quality of life of its citizens

On the other hand, some individuals claim that investing in the public infrastructure is essential as it portrays a country’s culture, heritage and historical landmarks across the world. In addition, it attracts tourists which boost the local economy and job market. Moreover, these buildings are sustainable as managing bodies charge tickets ranging from $50-$100 to enter these sites depending on the location . For example, last year Toronto Art Gallery made $140 million in profits just from the entry fees.

In conclusion, although it is expensive to maintain these buildings I believe retaining them helps protect a country’s culture, history and traditions to show it to the world.
