Genius uncatchable mouse - out of ideas, please send help

Hi everyone – I made this account to ask for help out of sheer desperation, since I have no idea what else to try.

Last year my roommate and I moved into an apartment and started seeing a little mouse pop out behind the dishwasher into the kitchen at night. No huge crisis, we've had mice before, we can deal with this.

Well, six entire months have gone by, and here is a list of things we have tried:

  • Tomcat snap traps
  • MouseX bait stations
  • Motel Mouse tube traps
  • Victor electrical trap
  • Two pest control companies (landlord got fed up with the first one when the mouse stuck around), both of whom set bait stations in our apartment, in the building's basement, and outside the foundations
  • Bucket trap
  • Sticky traps (don't want to be inhumane, but its been 6 months – we're losing it)
  • Bleaching the kitchen until the apartment smells like a public pool

All our food has been sealed away in plastic bins for 6 months. Pest control companies have confirmed that the traps are set correctly and strategically. They also both say it does not appear to be a major infestation – seems like a small number of mice.

We spent a few months watching the mouse just casually stroll around every single trap that we placed down. Then we got fed up and booby trapped the dishwasher – there's no way out other than running through a snap trap. At that point, we stopped seeing the mouse (a relief, since it used to run out into the kitchen literally every night) but have continued seeing droppings (baffling, rage inducing, help).

At this point roommate and I are considering just sprinkling cyanide all over the floor and seeing what happens. Does anyone have any advice. I have no idea what to even try next. What do we do here?
