Will plate removal help w/residual swelling?
Hello, I had DJS in 2024 and I’m thinking of getting my plates removed. It’s hard to tell if I’ve still got some residual puffiness or not as my face (particularly nose) changed significantly. I’ve got quite a bit of nostril flaring/ widening that happens when I smile, but it seems to me that something still looks “off” apart from my nose being wider.
I experience a constant fluid draining sensation as though I just did gua sha or lymphatic drainage. It feels as though I have a cold all the time, but my sinuses are completely clear. The plates next to my nose have been causing me a fair bit of discomfort, but my surgeon said that they don’t appear to be loose or severely infected. He offered to take them out and I’m weighing the risk of nerve damage again with possibly reducing residual swelling.
Has anyone gotten plates removed and experienced an improvement in swelling/ nostril flaring? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
