Failure can't decide to go up or down

1996 - "Say hello to the rug's topography" (ok, we're on the floor)

"Gravity's so far away" (now floating in outer space)

2004 - "Petting the carpet" (back on the floor)

2015 - "You were born on the bottom of the ocean" (lowest point yet)

2018 - "One more balloon without a tether" (UP)

2021 - "I'm never going down, never going down" (finally picked a spot to stay)

2026 - "I need to find a way down" (JFC!)

Concert stretch: 5/6 - 5/15

I know I just made my first post here today, but I'm still riding the high from seeing Failure live last night. I have a surreal 10 day stretch that started last night:

5/6: Failure in Atlanta (amazing)

5/9: Failure in Asheville

5/15: HUM in NYC

*Mind officially blown. Did I accidentally time travel to 1996??

I hung out with Ken, Greg, and Kellii last night

I've met some artists I really admire before - my fav band ever is Radiohead and I met them years ago, Thom Yorke on multiple occasions. It doesn't detract from my enjoyment of their art, but although pleasant, they're pretentious. Not a big shock. Also met Thom Yorke and Michael Stipe having lunch when I was in college. Jeff Mangum and Jason Isbell were my neighbors once upon a time. Met Wayne Gretzky once, but in all those encounters, I've tried to avoid being "that guy" or an overzealous fanboy. But I gotta say, Failure is so approachable and authentic on a personal level and I just think it's cool. I've talked to Kellii on a social media level several times. He's sent me Happy Birthday texts and my wife says he's my man crush, although I'm trying to maintain status that he's not aware of how giddy I am inside interacting with him. As a drummer, I've bought some of his personal gear and he's given me tips on cymbal purchases before. I'm taking my 19 yr old daughter to see them again in 2 days -- Ken and I discussed his 18 yr old son with a similar experience. Gen-Z is into 90s space/ noise rock and he humbly discussed how his son's friends' minds were blown discovering his dad is a member of Failure. Like me, Greg has resting bitch face. But even he was very cordial and answered my long pondered question of what the fuck a "smoking umbrella" was. In addition to the always mind-blowing experience of seeing them live, it's really cool to interact with guys who are legends and don't even seem to be aware of it.
