Me and this girl have been friends for about 5–6 years, and I never felt anything romantic towards her until recently. Out of nowhere, we started getting a lot closer than usual.
She’s always been a physically affectionate person, but lately it’s been more intense. We’ve also been opening up to each other emotionally a lot more. We’re usually part of a trio, but whenever we’re drinking or not fully sober, the third person basically disappears and it just becomes the two of us. She leans toward me, tells me personal things, and seems more focused on me in those moments.
During the day, everything feels normal when we’re all together. But at night, it’s different. She cuddles me the whole night, rests her hands on my chest (and sometimes more intimate areas while sleeping which I don't mind she does it randomly) and even sits on top of me just to talk and share things when we are drunk.
I honestly don’t know what to call this situation. I feel like I’m starting to like her, and I think she might feel the same, but we both act completely normal about it during the day.
Am I overthinking this, or does this sound like something more than just friendship?
