Am I the jerk for confronting my girlfriend about strange media I found on her phone?
I, 19F, have been with my girlfriend, 20F for a few months. We haven't gotten into many arguments before until recently. She will pick a fight with me over things that are not really a big deal, like if she thinks I'm speaking in a rude tone or things like that. I'm a fairly reactive person especially in situations like this so naturally, she knows what can make me angry. Sometimes I feel like she does things on purpose, which is not natural behavior for her as she is not a temper mental person and typically avoids arguing or confronting others.
The other day, I asked if i could go through her phone, I noticed she was reluctant and tried to avoid my question but I stayed persistent and she agreed to let me. I went through her phone and I of course looked through her camera roll. I didn't find much but when I looked at her hidden photos, I found something that I wouldve never imagined. This is going to sound like Im making it up but I swear this is a real thing. I saw airplane porn. Let me explain, basically I saw humanoid-like airplanes having sex or just in suggestive situations. One of the pictures was two of the humanoid airplanes getting inflated with gasoline (???). I'll let you use your imagination on what the rest of the pictures were.
I was really confused at first when I saw this and I wasn't even sure what to do. At first I thought maybe my girlfriend thought it was funny, but if that was true it didn't make sense for the photos to be hidden. I confronted her about it and she was visibly embarrassed and got angry at me.
She asked why I looked at the hidden folder and I said that I thought it would be fine since she already said I could look through her phone. She called me controlling and said I was judgmental. I wasn't even judging at first because I didn't even know what the purpose of the pictures were. I asked her if she is into this stuff or just thinks it's funny and she didn't want to answer my question. She gathered her things and left my apartment and has not really spoken to me since, it's been almost 3 days.
Did I overreact?? I still don't even know what to think.
