Urgent-help needed first year engineering
I’m a first year Engineering student at Western and I’m trying to understand what I can realistically expect regarding adjudication/RTW/Dean’s Waiver.
Right now my fall/winter YWA will end up below the required 60%, somewhere around the high 50s . I withdrew from Calc 1000B before failing it, and I’ve already enrolled in summer courses to continue catching up and improving my weaker courses.
I know summer grades don’t count toward the original YWA calculation, but I’m wondering what usually happens in situations like this:
- If I get placed on RTW status, can I still complete the summer courses I already registered/received OSAP funding for?
- How common is it for Engineering students close to the cutoff to receive a Dean’s Waiver?
- If granted a waiver, what does the process usually look like? Repeat first year? Conditional progression?
- Does being close to 60 help significantly?
- How does discipline selection work afterward if you repeat or continue conditionally?
I know nobody here can guarantee outcomes, but I’d appreciate hearing from people who were in similar situations or know how Western Engineering typically handles this.
Thanks.
