AITA for asking my friend to not wear dog ears or tails in public?
For context; I've known this individual since grade school A couple of months ago, she mentioned she wanted to wear dog ears in public. I personally was uncomfortable with this, so I set a boundary. I said that I would be fine if she wanted to hang out at their home which they were okay with. But later she told me a friend of theirs called me an asshole for it.
Of course; it made me reconsider. On one hand obviously I have no right to tell someone what to wear. However; on the other hand. Am I allowed to set boundaries like that?
This whole time I realized I forgot to mention that she's transfem (MtF), I didn't think it was an important detail at first, since obviously she's a woman. But then I remembered that there's a whole "puppy girl" thing? That she closely identifies with. I'm personally 100% okay hanging out with her in public female presenting, in fact I'm proud she's my friend since she's a really fun person to be around! However; when it comes to wearing dog ears or tails, I got generally uncomfortable. I'm happy she was willing to accommodate me feeling this way regardless.
So Reddit, AITA? How should I make it up to her if I am? Or since she agreed to my boundaries, should I let sleeping dogs lie. No pun intended.
Clarification: I just realized I did not specify this beforehand so I thought I should do so now; I specifically asked her to avoid wearing those accessories whilst I was with her in public to which she agreed to. Not any other time. Sorry for the confusion :(
