Living with my parents temporarily at 25, and I need major advice
So I moved from Pennsylvania to Texas, specifically to follow my mom. I could care less about being close or even speak to my stepdad, but I am still respectful bc it is his house. Long story short, my stepsister moved down to their house from Jersey this past December. She lasted 4 months before she realized Texas is not for her. Keep in mind, she was there for 4 months living in their house. I got here at the end of March. It’s been a month that I have been living with them. I got myself a steady job, I take care of my own bills and groceries. The only thing they ask of me is to clean up after myself and take my smoking outside (I use vape products) Yesterday, I went outside to smoke, and as I came back in my stepdad yelled at me about the mosquitoes getting into the house. Easy solution would be to just quit right? Well no. He makes me keep my video games in the back of the closet, I have no TV in the bedroom I am staying in. So after a long day at work, what do I do to unwind? I have no outlet to relieve my stress, hence why I smoke so much. But anyway, I guess the mosquitoes bothered him so much that he decided I have until May 31st to be out of the house. Cool, but I need 3 months worth of pay stubs to prove my income to a leasing office, and I’ve only been here for a month. My mom sticks up for me the best she can, but cannot do much because at the end of the day, the house is in his name. He walks around calling me his kid, but behind closed doors he just wants me to leave. Remember how I said my stepsister was here for 4 months? He did not rush her to leave at all, I guess being blood related gives her a free pass. But what do I do? There’s no way with the requirements here I can get a place by the end of the month, nor do I have the expenses as I just recently started my new job. I could potentially be homeless by the end of May.
