AITA - Was I being rude or unwelcoming to my uncle?

I’d like some outside opinions on a situation that happened yesterday.

My uncle was planning to come visit me. I called him after work to ask when he was going to come, and he initially said that if he couldn’t come this time, he would come another time. I told him that was fine.

Later, he called me back and said he would come after all. I told him, “Okay, perfect, you’re welcome,” and sent him my location.

While I was still talking to him on the phone, my father, who is currently sick, told me to ask my uncle not to come too late because he needed to sleep soon.

So I told my uncle what my father had said. I immediately felt that he was a little offended, and he responded, “It’s okay, I’ll just go stay at my friend’s house.”

That made me feel bad because I genuinely didn’t mean to make him feel unwelcome. I actually wanted him to come and had already welcomed him and sent him my location. I was simply passing along what my sick father had asked me to say.

From an outside perspective, was I being rude or unwelcoming by saying this? Or is my uncle’s reaction understandable?

I’m trying to figure out whether I handled the situation poorly or whether this was just a misunderstanding. Thanks
