What should I do if my friend potentially lied to me?
Basically my friend and I used to date these two boys who were friends, however my friend and her boyfriend ended up breaking up because he cheated. Eventually, me and my boyfriend also broke up. Recently, I found out that apparently my friend (Rue) told her ex-boyfriend (Chris) about the new guy I was talking to and her ex-boyfriend told my ex-boyfriend. (James) The reason I’m so upset about this is because I don’t appreciate the fact that when I brought it up, she told me she never said that and that Chris was lying. When I asked him, he also told me that she had never told him that. And when I asked James , he said that Chris did tell him that.
I’m just confused and I don’t know who to believe in this situation especially since the guy who I was talking is close to rue and the only time I’ve seen him was at a party so im not sure how the idea that I was talking to him got relayed to my ex.
(Chris has lied abt things in the past & been weird overall)
Im just confused because Im not sure who to believe in this situation, I don’t want to say Rue told Christ something but logically it doesn’t make sense how he would know the new guy im talking to
