Social Democracy... But you're the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle after the 2024 Presidential elections.
(Note: This is just an Edit btw, there's no Indonesian mod being developed)
(Another Note: This doesn't accurately reflect the irl politics of PDI-P, or any other parties mentioned here).
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is a centre-left political party that could trace its roots back to the left-wing Indonesian National Party (PNI) from the Indonesian national revolution era.
Now after we lost the 2024 elections to the right-wing Great Indonesian Movement Party (Gerindra), you're chosen as the party's new chairperson to pick our party's new direction moving forward.
What will you choose?
Factions:
Socialist (I don't actually know if they have true Socialist faction irl, I just put this here because I need PDI-P's equevalent of the Left SPD): The Socialist believes that the party should centralize power around itself, embrace a more planned economy, and closer relations to the Peoples Republic of China. To expand the power of this faction we need to send delegations to the CPC, request loans from the PRC, allow Chinese businesses into our country, alienate the Progressives and Jokowist, and rehabilitate the legacy of the Indonesian Communist Party.
Marhaenist: The Marhaenist are the old guard of our party, their main objective is to preserve our national independence by striving for self sufficiency. To expand the power of this faction we need to expand our mass organisations, maintain the welfare state, stay neutral in geopolitical affairs, alienate the Jokowist, and keep the factions within our party in line with the party leadership.
Progressives: The Progressives belief that we should work together with the Progressive National Democrats (Nasdem) and Labour Party (Partai Buruh) to fight the influence of the right-wing parties and improve the lives of our people. To expand the power of this faction we need to work together and expand the labour unions, improve workers rights, maintain democratic principles, and encourage small businesses and cooperatives.
Jokowist: Even though our former presidential candidate Joko Widodo left the party after severe disagreement with the previous leadership that ended with his endorsement of the Right-Wing Gerindra presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, we could still use what remains of his faction to reconcile with him and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) which is currently led by his Son. If we could get his support, we could use his popularity to expand our electorate in the countryside and among the younger generations. To expand the power of this faction we need to reconcile with Jokowi and the PSI, alienate the Progressives and Socialist, piss-off the Conservatives, support or enact austerity measures, lessen regulations on big businesses, please foreign investors, and contract private companies to create public works in underdeveloped areas.
Edit: Change the Liberals in the Socialist faction entry to Jokowist
