I've only played Japanese battleships before, and wanted to try destroyers for their faster playstyle. I started with Japanese as I like torpedoes, but saw many people from older posts recommend the British ones for beginners. I'm currently on Lightning, and I don't quite understand why. Their smokes are nice, but that's all. Guns are not as strong, and torpedoes reload is awful. I usually manage to take one cap, deal 10k damage and then die. I also see a lot of players playing Japanese or American destroyers, but only once I saw another British one.

So are the British DDs worth playing and it's just my low skills, or it's better to switch to other ships? Also if they're good, why people are almost never playing them?
