My Marrok Identity Theory
My Marrok Theory
I believe Marrok is Quinlan Vos.
Marrok uses form 4 when fighting. I looked at the canonized list of Ataru users and the only one who isn’t dead and is decently well known is Quinlan. If Marrok is a known character, his fighting style if a MASSIVE hint.
Psychometry. This ability is so rare that it also acts as a huge hint. The canon psychometry users are Ahsoka, Cal Kestis, and… Quinlan Vos. We know Marrok cannot be Ahsoka or Cal. Additionally, in episode 6 the camera made it a point of emphasis that he was using it, as if it’s an important detail. It lingered on it for a little longer than just a little lore tie in. I think the animators are trying to hint at something.
Quinlan Vos’ EU and former canon stories were about his struggle with the dark side. Seeing as most of this has been made non canon, it’s possible the story has been changed where he ended up becoming an inquisitor.
One extremely tiny detail I’d also like to point out is that Quinlan Vos was on Tattooine in the Phantom Menace. There has never been an answer for why. I find it entirely possible he faced Maul after Anakin fled, and that explains how the two seemingly know each other in this show.
There is also the dynamic between the Zabraks and nightsisters. We know Quinlan falls in love with Ventress. It’s entirely possible all 3 of them interacted because of this.
Small things like the fact both Quinlan and Marrok are 6’3 and have extremely similar body frames. His ability to match Ashoka’s talents far more than any other inquisitor. He is also the first brother, which likely means he was on the way to being in some sort of inquisitor-like role before they were ever established.
The green mist. This ties back to his relationship with Ventress. Marrok likely was reanimated at some point. There is virtually no other explanation for it coming off his body when Ahsoka killed him. Perhaps he did die similarly to how he did in the EU, but in this universe Elsbeth reanimated him (per Ventress’ request). That would explain how Marrok found Elsbeth in the first place (or vice versa).
Let me know what you think. I don’t think any of my theory is a stretch, tell me if it is. Of course it could all be wrong and it could be someone completely different or a brand new character, but I think my theory has more merit than any of the Starkiller/Ezra/Etc. ones.
