Any research, texts, memoirs or stories about children raised in revolutionary war environments?
As we know many popular socialist struggles across the world have been waged for decades (Philippines, Myanmar, Colombia, Mexico +)
In conversation with some cadre we discuss the anxiety around having children while understanding the task ahead, revolution or barbarism. There’s a guilt in having children knowing you may be imprisoned or killed in the struggle, even with extended family/communal networks. And that realistically your children will, should they hold the line, struggle or suffer the same fate. The obvious counter is that capitalism and imperialism does the same, only in a different form.
I know the pod boys have an episode on Parenting that I will be getting to soon.
But I wanted to ask if there is any comprehensive analysis or research on children raised in a revolutionary environment. Not just war in general, but one with a specific political aim (doesn’t have to be leftist).
As well as any memoirs or interviews from people raised in these contexts and their feelings about it. If any of you of course were raised in the struggle, be it a hot or cold war, I’d love to hear whatever you have to share.
