I purchased a basic cheap laptop for fun and tried various Linux distros for fun.
The machine is an Asus 14 inch, 4 GB ram with 126 GB emmc storage, and an intel N4500 cpu with no fan. Everything is soldered in place. The Linux versions I tried are: Every current version of Mint, Mint LMDE 7, Puppy, Fedora LXQT & XFCE, , AntiX, Linux Lite, Bodhi, and a few others. I am not a fan of Windows and did not want a clone of that OS. All those versions were a bit slow on the machine. No surprise about that. What surprised me was that Zorin 8.1 just flew on my laptop for browsing, checking emails, and watching videos. The silly machine runs hot so I installed CPUPower-gui to tone things down a bit. And Zorin 18.1 still runs well with the cpu frequency lowered. Everyone has a favorite distro and they are all great. But for what ever reason Zorin 18.1 works very well with my laptop.
