Gates closed at the train station
East Midlands Rail have closed the gates from the public walkway to the platforms. Apparently none of the 11 staff members on duty are capable of checking tickets at that point of entry.
One member of staff told me it was for safety reasons, while the other stood there grinning like a gormless idiot.
