Anyone up for a pint?

36 year old guy here, live on the outskirts of Nottinghamshire. Recently heartbroken, no kids, small family, live alone, don’t work long hours or anything like that so feeling very isolated and lonely lately. Get your violins out.

Looking to get out a bit more, go to the pub, for a walk, even to events and gigs and things like that. Basically just looking for friends, and not ready for another relationship yet. I do have mates but they are understandably busy with their own lives, kids, etc.

I’m into football, a big film and tv geek, walking and the outdoors, running, music, reading. I’ve joined the Meetup app and plenty of ‘make new friends’ subs, and am trying to throw myself out there a bit more, but thought I’d post to here too after seeing similar posts in the past. I do drive and am happy to travel pretty much anywhere.

I don’t mind your gender, age or location (although I’m not looking for pen pals so local to Notts please), if it sounds like we’d get on and you fancy a chat and potentially a pint, walk, going to see a film or something, drop me a message.

Looking for festival buddies

I’m (25F) looking for girls that are interested in festivals/concerts/events. I’m into DnB, garage, grime etc but honestly happy to listen to anything!

We can chat on instagram or potentially create a group chat if people are interested? Just trying to get out there and do more stuff this summer!

To the guy who tried to talk to me outside the bus station

Long shot, but this dude tried to talk to me outside the bus station. I just want to apologise for being blunt and quiet you seemed like a cool guy, I was just stressed out due to loosing my cool ass umbrella on the bus and being on a 5 hour ride from London.

I think you were wearing a yellow jacket and had blonde hair? But I was so out of it i can't really remember.

Anyways, if you see this feel free to start up a conversation with me ill be happy to have a conversation with you.

Looking for lads to hang with in Notts, anyone else find it weirdly hard to make friends post uni?

Graduated in Nottingham, stayed here, and slowly watched basically everyone I knew either move back home or disappear abroad. Still here in 2026 doing the whole work-girlfriend-adulting thing and it’s fine but man the lack of a proper boys group hits different than I expected.

Not really sure what I thought would happen after uni but it wasn’t this lol

26M if that helps. Into pubs, beer, cricket, bit of football, travel. Nothing intense, no drama, just genuine chill time with decent people. The kind of group where you can suggest a pub on Saturday with zero agenda and someone actually shows up.

Anyone else in a similar situation or know people who are? Would be good to get something going even if it starts with a few of us grabbing a pint somewhere. Notts has too many good pubs to be drinking alone ngl

DM me or drop a comment x

So many mobile repair/vape shops in town

There’s no way these repair shops and vape shops have enough demand to afford to pay rent on expensive high streets. there’s literally a repair shop and vape shop on every street in town. Surely the council has to approve these right? it would just be so much better to fill up roads like market st with more bars or a restaurant rather than those new vape shops also st james’ street. Its definetily a money laundering front since theres no way they can afford rent on these high streets.

Moving to Nottingham

Moving to Nottingham for GP training. What are the best areas to rent and where should I avoid. My first practice is in long Eaton. Is that an okay area to live? Or should I stay more central? And how is the public transport?
What are the average rent prices for a 2 bedroom flat?

Homeless next to city center M&S

I passed by him when he was jerking off in his duvet this morning at 8:30AM… really wish I could unsee that🫣

Totally understand everyone has their needs, but it’d be great if he could be more private with it…

House/Tech music in Notts

Hi, every time I’ve searched for a house melodic progressive or any kind of techno party in Nottingham I’ve only found DnB events. I don’t mind DnB but is there a place in Nottingham that plays house music?

Anyone know who everyone was crowding around in old market square?

I’m assuming there was someone famous next to the lions in the square as there was around 100 people crowded in a circle going crazy, they were all taking selfies with someone but I couldn’t work out who they were looking at. Was at 2pm 20th of may

People of Irish descent in Notts

Don't really know how to title this but it slipped my mind from St. Patrick's day. The ribbons they sold had County Mayo and another sold out relatively quickly. My grandfather came from County Mayo so I'm curious if that a more common place people emigrated from or what.

Loving the free audiobooks that come with library membership.

I got a library card recently, and realised it lets me access lots of free audio books from an app. Now listening to a book about how the brain works, rather than constant news cycles on podcasts.

Is the Trent safe to swim in near Clifton campus? After the weir, don’t want to die.

It looks like it’s going to be hot over the next few days, and a few mates and I are looking at swimming to cool down a bit during exam period. Is it safe to swim there? I’ve seen some trent students do it before but unsure. River says can normally be 0.9-1m high as per gauge readings, but it’s more off experience if anyone has any. Cheers in advance.

To the scruffy bloke with the attitude problem in Costa the other day

This is a massive longshot but honestly I’m still fuming.

I was quietly enjoying my afternoon coffee when I happened to mention to one of the staff that the girl with the blue hair and tattoos had been a bit rude earlier. Apparently that now counts as a crime because suddenly some random man decides to insert himself into the situation like he’s the Costa Avengers.

He starts lecturing me about how hard the staff are working and how I should be “grateful” someone made my coffee. Meanwhile this barista is dramatically apologising every five seconds like she’s auditioning for Customer Service: The Musical. Honestly, if she was that exhausted maybe she should’ve gone home instead of glaring at customers over oat milk shortages.

Then this bloke starts rambling about her tattoos and hair like he’s writing poetry in a motorway service station. Very odd behaviour. I told him to mind his own business and maybe get a haircut, which apparently offended him deeply. He responded with “get a grip" like a divorced dad discovering Twitter for the first time.

Anyway if the blue-haired girl sees this: congratulations on apparently having your own personal white knight now. Hope the queue survived the emotional support speech.

Motorbike stolen! Please keep eyes peeled! Suzuki SV650 reg HJ54 TTV

Literally just stolen 20mins ago from lady bay retail park - police are aware, ran around trying to find the bike then heard it fire up and ride away from not too far away, possibly bottom end of sneinton direction. My guess is they cut the lock, wheeled it round the corner to find somewhere hidden to Hotwire it and then ride off

It has a green ABR sticker on the front wind deflector and a dent on the right hand side of the tank from a previous (failed) attempted theft a year or so ago
