The Hole

At one point as a kid, I think 9 or 10, we lived in a neighborhood with a large undeveloped piece of land (that is now houses) my big brother and I would play there, it had big piles of dirt that we used as bike ramps . Up the street was an awful little girl, like aggressive and mean. She would call is names on the bus, throw rocks at us, push us off our bikes, anything she could think of really. Sometime she would get her younger siblings to join. So as much as we liked playing outside, she was always a risk. After the third time they surrounded us to throw rocks and weeds in the empty lot she hit me in the eye and I had enough.

I talked my brother into helping since this was going to be risky. That weekend while I kept a lookout for our nemesis, I had my brother dig a 4ft hole at the base of one of the hills we all used as a ramp, and then i covered it in dead long grass, leaves and weeds. It looked like all the other piles of debris the rainstorms would pool together. We knew which way she would always enter the lot so we knew she wouldn't see it right away. Then it was just a matter of hiding out until she would eventually come by. (We ended up having to go back out the next morning bc ahe never showed up).

It was beautiful, she was bawling. And I know it only worked because a 12yo doesnt think to look out for pitfalls, but she went straight down. Me and my brother (mostly me tho) spent like half an hour making fun of her in that hole, and telling her her she was a nasty piece of work and an idiot for thinking anyone was actually afraid of her. Eventually we left and brought her a stool to climb out with.

After that there was peace in the neighborhood, we pretty much got the empty lot to ourselves, we filled the hole, and she steered clear any time we crossed path outside or at school. She was actually a lot nicer in general after that, I guess being trapped in hole while people call you names and threaten to leave you there over night changes how much you think you can get away with.

Honestly tho I hope she still doesnt trust the ground 20 years later. FAFO Meghan

Cursed apartment building

We have lived in several units of this complex over the last 3 years and my partner has worked here just as long. I believe the complex is haunted in general but one of the buildings is definitely cursed. Were next to a historic college that is now used as a high school, and behind the complex and campus is a large field that used to be a cemetery. Our current unit has a shadow figure that sets off the baby monitor in the play room when its empty, but I dont get bad vibes and nothing bad happens to us other than a truly absurd number of spiders, our last unit had something imitating our ghost dog trying to get in from the balcony (told my partner not to let it in, ghosty never had a problem following us from different properties for a decade so a door shouldnt be an issue all the sudden.) What I keep an eye on is the building next to us. 13. The reason I think it is cursed is - in addition to being closet to the old cemetery, every. single. year. A new resident in the same unit tries unsuccessfully to eat a bullet. 2/3 times since starting work here my partner has found them in the morning stumbling around banging on doors trying to get help when he goes to clean the breeze ways. The guy whose worked here a decade has confimed it happens every February-march. In addition to having the highest turnover, that building also has the highest number of police calls for domestic violence complaints on the property. Its like people move in and just start to hate themselves and eachother over there. Its either cursed or has a particularly nasty something in it imo.

If you're curious about ghosty, we apparently picked the little guy up on a hike a little over a decade ago. We had two small white poodles at the time so when I saw a little white dog running around between me an my partner who was up ahead I didnt think much of it. When I caught up I asked why he let poncho off his leash since it had been too big to be minni - he just looked at me like I was an idiot and said he had them both the whole time. I told him about the dog and we figured someone else camping or hiking nearby was probably letting their dog run around and didnt think anything else of it. We go home and for a few weeks I swear I see a little white dog walking around the hall when both of mine were sleeping by my feet. Figured it was probably just because i stopped taking my meds and was hallucinating again even though ive only ever had auditory hallucinations. After about a month were watching TV one night and my partner puts it on mute, looks at me and says "have you seen the little white dog that isnt minni or poncho??????" So we figured it probably got lost out there once upon a time and eventually found us and figured we were good people and decided to come home with us. Its followed us around from apartment to apartment ever since, it even followed us to my mom's house when we stayed there for a month after having the baby. I haven't seen it around in a few months so im hoping it decided it was finally ready to cross the rainbow bridge. But minni whose now blind does occasionally bark/try to play at nothing so it could still be around, also possible that at 15yo shes just demented/senile.

Disappearing toilet water

Over the last couple of weeks ive noticed the water in one of our toilets will be lower than its usual default(?) level. I dont hear it running or making any other sounds, ill just come home and its almost empty. Is it worth reporting to the apartment complex? Its a greystar so they probably won't do anything, but the amount of water disappearing is increasing, today it was almost empty like an hour after id used it last
