Found this rock in an open lot next to gas station where I was filling up. Looked interesting so I brought I home and cut it. I think it’s rhyolite banded with hematite. If I could just remember where in north eastern Arizona. I got it. Google says it’s some some called ancestralite sp? Not sure what that is? Maybe a marketing name.
Bought this piece of Botryiodal malachite aka bullseye malachite. Paid $70 for the his piece, 504.5 grams. Not sure if I overpaid for this piece. Went to Tucson in Feb. found two half size pieces that were pretty beat up for $220 a kilo. If anyone can tell me what a good price per kilo. Not too much of this material around for me to price. I hate over paying for rocks. It’s a me thing.
Drove up to the obsidian pits in Utah, I wanted a large piece of snowflake obsidian, something to display on my patio. Anyway spent 4 hrs extracting this large piece of obsidian, by the time I got it down I was exhausted 50 lb piece, my plus 1, I was so tired in didn’t collect the small stuff. Now I have to go back to get something smaller to cut
