Wanting to connect with people applying for 2027 cycle!

I just started topical foam minoxidil for my Alopecia areata. I heard mixed reviews with minoxidil such as you can’t stop it once you start, but other times I’ve heard you can stop it if it’s stress related hair loss. How do I know when to stop the minoxidil?

Also, how do I make sure my hair doesn’t become dependent on it? Im currently getting steroid shots as well to reduce inflammation and see baby hairs growing, but the shed is still there.

I noticed that my hair sheds more and bald spots appear a few days before and during my period. I think it might be a change in my hormones so I am planning to do a blood test for that. Has anyone experienced the same hair loss with their menstrual cycle?

Any advice and info would be appreciated!

Hi everyone, i was first diagnosed with AA last year with only dime sized bald spots. I got steroid injections for them and they grew back. I started getting them again this year but this time they are much bigger and have much more than last time. I plan on getting steroid shots next month but not sure what else to do.

My dermatologist prescribed me clobetasol steroid cream in replace of the steroid injections because she said it was not good to do injections frequently. I find that it has helped lessen inflammation but does not stop the bald spots from coming back or help with hair growth. I have also been using the ordinary serum, nizorol shampoo, and ducray hair serum + oral supplements. I am still continuing to get bald spots and not sure what to do.

I am hesitant to start minoxidil because I have a cat and it is scary to think that I have to be on it for life or everything will fall out. Any advice?

This is my first time applying with 89.6 average and 3Q Casper. I have beyond 500+ hours at many places which includes small animal and wildlife. I know it is common for people to apply a few times but I’m just worried that I won’t get in. I’m unable to apply to other schools because I didn’t take orgo or physics. I’m set on OVC.

I’m going to try applying again this year and try for 4Q and strengthen my personal statement but ITS DEPRESSING. I feel like I’m running out of time.

I’ve heard animal bio students getting in with lower averages but students in other majors don’t get offered with higher averages?
