Hello Out there MSP people! Help out another Computer guy.

Hey everyone,

I realize that this is a computer repair forum, but if there are any MSP's out there, your input would be fabulous.

I’m in the early stages of building a small boutique MSP/computer repair business in Wisconsin and trying to grow it thoughtfully instead of scaling too fast.

My goal honestly isn’t to become a giant 4,000-endpoint MSP. I’d be very happy building a strong local business with good relationships, maybe eventually 150–500 endpoints max over time.

For those of you who started small:
How did you realistically get your first 25–50 endpoints or first business clients?

Did you focus on:

  • local networking?
  • referrals?
  • walk-ins?
  • partnerships?
  • managed security?
  • churches/small businesses?
  • word of mouth?

I’m especially interested in hearing what actually worked in the real world for smaller relationship-focused MSPs.

Thanks everyone — I’m learning a ton already.
