I remember this used to be a feature, but it no longer seems to be?

I've seen posts from a few years back that were very angry and unhelpful, mocking the users instead of just answering the question politely.

For context, yes I know the message is informing me of a critical function. No, I do not care. Most users assume a piece of software is functioning by default, and only want to see messages when something goes WRONG, not when a background process completes correctly.
