F1 Visa refused ❌ mumbai counslate || 15/05
Advise needed !!
I got refused for an F1 visa on 15 May for MS in Construction Management at the University of Houston and I honestly want some opinions because I’m stuck between reapplying, changing universities, or deferring.
Profile:
Architect by profession
\- IELTS: 7
\- CGPA: 7.06
\- 2 years work experience
\- Program: MS Construction Management
\- University: University of Houston
Interview experience:
The VO only took my passport and did not ask for any documents.
VO: How many universities?
Me: I said I applied to 5 universities and started naming them, but he interrupted me.
VO: Do you have any discrimination in your country?
Me: No.
VO: Do you face any type of harm in your country?
Me: No.
VO: How are you going to finance your education?
Me: My parents are sponsoring me. I have an education loan of around 70k USD and family savings of around 10k USD.
(Interrupted before I completed.)
VO: What do your parents do?
Me: They run multiple businesses and my father is a civil engineer.
VO: What type of business?
Me: Manufacturing of tiles, survey, and consultancy.
Then he immediately said my visa was refused under 214(b).
Vo was in hurry also refusing everone plus same question to everyone and interrups in between
Now I realized there were some mistakes in my DS-160:
\- I accidentally mentioned my father’s birth year as 2000
\- I selected “self” in the person paying for the trip section even though my parents are sponsors
Could these mistakes alone cause a rejection?
Also, my education loan is from MPOWER. Is that considered a red flag for Indian applicants?
I’m also hearing refusal slots are difficult and may take a long time. Should I:
- Reapply with the same university?
- Change university?
- Defer intake?
- Improve interview answers and try again?
Please give honest advice, especially from people who were refused once and later approved.
