Understanding Jax's mind

Understanding Jax's mind

I have been thinking about what the versions of Jax we see in his mind represent.

There are a total of 7 doors, 2 of which are locked. I assume that each door represents a version of Jax, since we see 5 of them. Therefore, there should be 2 more unseen versions of him.

  1. Cruel Jax: A version of Jax that brutally strangles Pomni.
  2. Maid Jax: This one keeps saying or doing inappropriate things.
  3. Cartoonish Jax: Straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon.
  4. Piano Jax: He's chained to the instrument.
  5. Lamppost Jax: The version that Pomni meets after looking into his memories.
  6. Locked door in the corridor: Unknown.
  7. Locked door in the lounge: We get a hint of what is behind the door when Edgy Jax says that they "have a strict no-girls-allowed policy". Apparently this is Jax's repressed sexual identity.

Each door leads to a scenario that one of the other players abstracts, but I don't think the scenarios have any relation to the version of Jax that appears on them. Jax can be cruel, edgy, or cartoonish with anyone. Fans have theorized about the locked door in the corridor being the scenario that Pomni abstracts, but I think the scenarios are irrelevant.

As the Caroonish Jax pointed out, these versions of are playing out in extremes. The real Jax never got to the point of brutally strangling Pomni, sexually harassing Gangle, or magically erasing the ground that Zooble was standing on.

We also have never seen Jax acting like his Piano version. But I think that's the point, I assume this is how Jax acted outside the circus, a good kid who played the piano for his mother.

Despite Pomni asking for the "real" Jax, is the Lamppost Jax supposed to be the real one? I doubt so. He was also playing out in extremes, displaying only negative emotions. While this version of Jax was at least genuine, Pomni still failed to stabilize Jax's mind because she could not connect with all aspects of his mind.

There's also the unknown version of Jax behind the locked door in the corridor. If I had to guess, this is the version that seeks connection with other people.

Thoughts?

I love the comics, but Jax is always too nice... he should be more unhinged

ELI5: When a network removes a series from streaming as a "tax write-off", how does that works?

For example, WBD removed Final Space from all streaming services and the series became a tax write-off.

This is confusing to me. I would think the show was still making a profit, since it had descent ratings. How does WBD save money from removing the show from everywhere? Who owns the rights to the show now, the government?

[Hated trope] Colorful superhero costume gets replaced with generic black "tactical" costume

X-Men

Hawkeye (Clint Barton)

Jax fans are a lot like the other players, Jax haters are more like Jax

Jax himself wasn't there for his friends when they needed him. But Jax is surrounded by people who care for him, even if he doesn't deserve it. That's what makes Pomni and the others good people.

Jax fans wanted Jax to be helped. But I have seen so many haters saying they should have given up on him. The irony is that the show is telling people to not be like Jax.

Different audio languages missing from list of variants

I have not been able to select different languages for a video, despite it being available on Youtube.

I'm not sure which update caused this problem.

Maybe there's some setting which I couldn't find?

Thanks for the help.

I think some people are missing that Jax's memories are supposed to be intrusive thoughts

The finale keeps showing scenes of Jax being cruel to Ribbit to an uncomfortable extent

But these are supposed to be memories that live rent-free on his head. He keeps torturing himself by thinking of the good times he had with Ribbit and Kaufmo, and how he abandoned them before they abstracted

Why do people say that Jax was isolating Ribbit from the rest of the cast? There are scenes that show this is not the case. To me it seemed like Jax mattered more than anyone else to Ribbit.

So Caine spent days in the Void, but if he came back an hour earlier, Jax would not have been abstracted?

Jax's story is supposed to be tragic

A lot of people criticize the decision to make Jax abstract, since it seemed like the series was leading to his redemption. But that's the tragedy of it—you can see how Jax could improve, yet he succumbs.

Despite his upbringing, Jax was given multiple chances of finding happiness within the circus, with people like Ribbit who cared about him, yet he couldn't escape the cycle of abuse.

Gooseworx created Jax to be the most appealing possible to her, and it also worked with the majority of the public given how he was the most popular character. You want him to accept Pomni's help, you want him to apologize, you want him to be nice to Gangle or Ragatha. Gooseworx wanted fans to feel like something was stolen from them.

Ragatha, Gangle, Zooble, and Kinger. Minor characters that only exist to foreshadow the traumas of a main character.

Jax is irredeemable. Caine is not really an antagonist. Abstraction is irreversible. Gooseworx spoiled the entire show on her early posts. I suspect that after she realized this, she tried to convince the fans that her posts are lies.

I'm glad we got a happy ending. My only pet peeve with the ending is that everyone was too forgiving towards Caine.
