You are the new gamechanger. Which girl do you pick?
As a guy entering the BLTS dating pool, which girl do you pick and why?

>!!<Loved this moment. Finally get to see Suji enter her feminine frame, something bozo 1, 2, and 3 never drew out from her. Let's go SJ and HJ!>!!<
Just read another post where a woman is confused why all the guys like Suji. Some of the reasons thrown around by that poster and a lot of the comments were suggesting that it's because they "think of her as a trophy" or "want to win the competition amongst the guys." Seems like a lot of women are agreeing with each other on this point, but as a guy, I can tell you that this is completely incorrect.
TLDR: Men do not enjoy competing for women. They do NOT see Suji as a "trophy", they find her genuinely beautiful and attractive, much more so than any other woman in the show.
Given that SI is a dating program and there's an expectation for people to at least attempt to pair up, will the girls somehow find the motivation to fight for the guys? Will the guys, bloodlusted from the skimpy outfits and dazzling sunlight, start to get more proactive?
Or would the girls just be disgusted and use the time to have some friendly banter with the guys until time runs out? Will the guys just give up due to lack of confidence?
My thoughts:
- Tae hoon very sexual/horny looking dude, will definitely go berserk, but no match.
- Jin Woo very horny looking eyes - will definitely go berserk, but no match.
- Seunghyun secretly horny. Eyes darting around like crazy will implode with horndog, but no match.
- Jae Seo will become good friends with all the guys and connect with some of the girls, but no match.
- Jung Yun will probably be insta-friendzoned by everyone except Mina Sue. Mina Sue picks him in the end so she can say she left the island with someone, but never contacts him afterwards.
- HyeokJoon pairs with someone like Minji after being rejected by Go-eun and Hee Sun.
Going to caveat that a lot of this is based on my own preferences, but I also know a huge portion of guys would agree with me.
Not only is Su Ji far beyond the level of anyone in BLTS, I honestly would pick Su Ji over any contestant from any Singles Inferno season. The only one who comes close for me is Hye Seon from SI Season 3. Both are natural beauties (no plastic face), but Hye Seon is more of the typical "It girl" archetype (bold, confident, charismatic, ambitious) while Su Ji is more of a "Girl next door" archetype (cute, reserved, humble, comfortable to be around).
Honestly, from a guy's perspective, Su Ji would do VERY well in Single's Inferno, possibly even be the main girl of her season. She basically has all the qualities that a guy is looking for and none of the negative ones that eventually turn initial suitors away (e.g., Gu-ri from SI season 3 or Mina Sue from season 5).
Do you agree with me? Disagree?
EDIT: Oh I forgot about Nadine from one of the SI seasons. She's up there for me too.
A lot of inexperienced men mistakenly assume that when you're with a woman your primary objective should be to eliminate all awkwardness and make the conversation as comfortable and casual as possible. I get why they think this way. Lots of media, movies, TV, societal norms, etc., emphasize the importance of appearing as less threatening as possible. So men have overcorrected over the years to make themselves look and feel harmless and non-aggressive.
The problem is that this is a horrible way to actually create romantic/sexual tension. It's a great way to enter the friendzone. It's not attractive when a man talks too much and says nothing. It's not attractive when a man clearly wants to convey his feelings but doesn't have the courage to say it so just ends up talking in circles. Women are perceptive and they see what you're doing. And it makes you look like a little scared boy in their eyes. Sorry, but that's just the truth.
Examples:
- Jae Seo talks way too much (which he likely thinks is a flex on his social skills and knowledge). In reality, the women don't hear 99% of what he's saying because there's no directionality. It's just a rapid fire burst of words that leads nowhere. There's no eye contact. There's no message that is being conveyed. His body language is not suggestive at all. It's always pointed away from the girl to make himself feel less threatening and his face and eyes are also pointed away. Buddy, I know society has trained men to feel like they are grapey when they address a girl head on, but that's exactly what you need to do. Don't be scared. Look at the person, point your body towards them, don't slouch downwards, and speak your mind.
- Seung Hyun is incapable of making eye contact or finishing a sentence in one take (which he likely thinks gives him a shy, boyish charm). In reality, women look at this as gross. Bro you are 30+ years old. You're not a small dude either. You have the face of a man but the mannerisms of a prepubescent femboy. This divergence creates cognitive dissonance and tanks attraction levels. Not saying the shy, boyish charm doesn't exist. It does, but you have to be the right archetype for it. YOU ARE NOT IT.
Show is filled with men intentionally making themselves look smaller and less threatening because society has taught them that's what makes girls feel comfortable. Yeah, it makes them feel comfortable... having you as a friend and therapist. Someone needs to coach these guys.
Is one of the key themes that keep popping up after two seasons of this show. And that's why there's always a huge mismatch between the men and women.
They get extremely uncomfortable when there are blank silences in conversations and end up saying pointless things that sabotage their own chances. Examples:
- You can tell that when JungYun runs out of things to say, his brain just defaults to asking for affirmations: "Do you like me? well do you? would you pick me to be your date next time? would you kneel down and propose to me? well would you do it right now?"
- When Jae Seo runs out of things to say, he ends up oversharing information that nobody asked for: "hey I know all about the dynamics of the male group and what they're discussing.... I know how many dates you'll be on and it's just this one."
- When Seung Hyun runs out of things to say, he just nervously laughs and darts his eyes around. Is this guy not a dentist? Do dentists not deal with patients? Someone explain to me how this guy does his job?
- Su ji just maintains heavy eye contact and makes a natural joke or something to lighten the mood (e.g., "hey guys, we're busy girls - start asking those questions!"). She has beautiful eyes, so you can literally see her eye contact melting these poor defenseless dudes before they know what hit them.
- Even people like Seo Yoon or Han ju deal with silence better. They clearly don't know how to deal with it either, so they just sit there and let it persist. Honestly, it's better to just say nothing than to say something completely idiotic just to break the silence. Let the moment breathe, make some eye contact, or just look elsewhere.
To be fair to the men though, men have a lot more societal pressure to "lead" and these guys just don't have the skills to do that. When women don't say anything or say something stupid, it often comes across as cute, but when men do the same thing, it often comes across as lame. So on top of being a mismatch on the looks side, they're also a mismatch on the social side.
To balance this, I propose S3 feature men who are either significantly better in either looks or social skills (or both) than the women.
Everybody knows about the usual advice people give to bronzies - soak, don't die.. Sure, these are generally good things to follow, but this advice is dangerous because it causes noobs who don't understand nuance to overcorrect in a way that actually hurts their teams more than it helps.
How many times have you seen a suicide AFK quick-revive raynor doing nothing but faceplanting towers all game?
Or a zag/murky that lives in just one lane, ignores all pings, and continues to attempt to (unsuccessfully) push that lane while neglecting camps and refusing to double soak.
Or the nazeebo/azmodan that actually does come to team fights, but seemingly has zero impact despite racking up a bunch of "stats" to make themselves look good?
Yes, we've all seen these and many more examples. Can you win consistently by just soaking and not dying? Sure, maybe if you're a GM playing in bronze or silver. However, the average noob has already heard the soak/don't die spiel 1,000 times and is still hardstuck bronze. So today let me introduce something that I NEVER see anyone talk about or address. It's something that nearly 100% of noobs fail to do correctly. In my opinion, it's the most underutilized skill in HOTS precisely because of the stigma around dying and the obsession around soaking.
It's called offtanking.
So what is offtanking? Put simply, it's the ability to effectively take enemy focus fire away from your team by using your health and your micro as a resource, thereby helping your team sustain longer and achieving a greater chance of killing your enemy (vs. getting killed yourself). Let's break down precisely how lacking this skill causes noobs to stay in bronze while effectively utilizing this consistently gives your team a leg up in games (therefore giving you a pathway out of bronze).
Typical noob brain: "I am nazeebo. I am a ranged assassin. I deal damage from a distance and a tank and bruiser cover me to ensure I don't take any damage."
The problem with this mentality: A bruiser only has around 30% more hp than you do as an assassin. A tank only has around 50% more. The idea that the "frontline" absorbs damage for you is not just dumb, it's impossible. The fact that you expect them to absorb all the enemy damage for you is the reason nobody ever wants to play tank anymore.
A skilled player recognizes that EVERYBODY shares a responsibility to absorb enemy damage. Whether you're a tank, bruiser, assassin, or healer. Sometimes, the tank will need YOU to tank for them, bodyblock, or get the enemy's attention.
I main melee assassin, and I almost always end up absorbing more damage than the actual tank does. As in I will often have double their self-healing/shielding stat and will often be on the end leaderboard for most enemy damage soaked (if I'm not on it for another reason). Part of this is because I do a lot of burst damage so I'm almost always the focus fire target, but the other reason is because I intentionally put myself out there to buy my teammates a chance to get something done. My winrate is consistently >60% solo queue in SL.
I felt the need to make this post because I see so many people hyperfixating on not dying so much that they end up not doing anything. And not just assassins. EVERY role. Backline tanks that don't have the courage to engage and end up getting poked to death without ever casting an ability. Assassins that refuse to engage and as a result let their entire team effectively get crushed in a 4v5 because you don't want the "bad optics" of adding another death stat on your scoreboard.
The right advice isn't "don't die." The right advice is to do whatever it takes to create the win condition. And as much as people bag on noobs for dying, I actually see the opposite problem more often. I see noobs so fearful of dying that they don't actually end up adding any value. People in this game would rather lose and get "top stats" so they can say "it wasn't me lOoK aT mAh sTatS" than actually win. Who cares if you get low stats. Who cares if you die a bunch of times if those deaths were a result of the enemy team chasing you as 5 while the rest of your team pushes forts or caps an objective. Who cares if your damage stat is low if you gave your teammates a chance to deal the finishing blow that actually matters. At the end of the day, the only stat that matters is the win.
