Players are STILL deranking losing huge numbers of games in a row on purpose so they can stomp bronze

https://imgur.com/a/wkIv3ZH

This is a follow-up to prior post https://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/comments/1t1cr38/players_are_intentionally_deranking_just_to_stomp/

Please stay on the lookout for ranked players with enormous pure loss streaks in bronze 5 followed by unbelievable win streaks. Always a premade team.

People think a newbie who "feeds" a few times is a problem in ranked but the real problem is grand master players buying accounts that are bronze 5, or simply rotating between suspended bronze 5 accounts where someone win-traded losses to them - as seen in all 4 examples in these 2 reddit threads.)

If we could just name and shame players on this forum it would go a long way to stopping this abuse.

low level quick match is 100% hell

leavers, afkers, trolls, nubs, 4v5 like every single game, silenced players everywhere, WTF is going on here????

and when u call them out on it and tell them to uninstall and go play club penguin, IM THE ONE who gets silenced / banned????

After 11 years of playing, these are honestly the two reasons people are stuck on their rating / ELO.

  • Giving up / going afk
  • Fighting outnumbered / not retreating

For context, I played some tournaments from 2016-2019 competitively, and just casually since then, Grandmaster in (I think) 9 seasons total.

The number of "it's GG", "lost on draft", or someone saying "we lose anyways" when they decide to suicide bomb I've seen is insane. HotS might be one of the biggest catch-up games there are, where a single won teamfight can swing the game hard, going from a 3-level deficit to winning the game. But yeah if you just say "GG, afk" the game is 100% lost. I'm confident if you give it your all in all games, you could swing your winrate from 48% to 52% for example.

Fighting outnumbered. Teamplay is the way of the game. Unless you have some niche split-push, double soak strategy where you delay the objective as much as possible, teamfights are where it's at:

  • Don't engage a full-on teamfight outnumbered. Take your loss at the objective and just get camps, soak and get back ahead.
  • If there's no reason to (keep) fight(ing), retreat. Got their fort/keep? Get out.
  • Retreat when your (especially) your healer dies in a fight, particularly when early and you have a chance to retreat safely. If you can pick off one of theirs with a good chance, of course stay and fight.

That's all. 20-30% of the games I lose is because of one of these reasons

Advice: If you are ever a solo player in a 4-man stack, don't chat

Anything you say will be used for 4 reports against you no matter if you are the guilty party or not

If hots 3.0 Ever Happens. I wanna see the return of mastery skins

Mastery skins, while mostly bad in most instances. Were novel, it was kinda neat seeing into an alternate reality of the character in which they thrived.

Love to see it with Imperius, because like would he just get a big halo? it just sounds funny, but i wanna see it.

Also if the game ever gets revived. Imma bet on it being Lilith from diablo added to hots first.

HoTS reporting is way too sensitive

I feel like the game just wants you to be an NPC which behaves like it's on Linkedin, instead of laying down criticism and actually being competitive. The chat doesn't tolerate even the slightest harshness long term and I feel the only way to play is just getting a stack, turning off the chat and disengaging from the game. Does blizzard really believe a teammate who is harsh is worse than a teammate that does not coordinate in any way? Worse than someone who is uncooperative and ruins others' gameplay, but doesn't swear? Why is the system baning you for using words like "idiot" and "worthless team"? Shouldn't that be reserved for truly hateful messages like - "I hope you mother dies/gets cancer"?
And if it handles swearing so brutally, why doesn't it handle the lack of cooperation equally as brutally?

Trying to understand this community

We have people like myself who love HOTS can do nothing but defend it to others and enjoy the gameplay, the hero design and wasting hundreds of hours of time into a game that my friends tease me about being a "Dead game"

Then we have people who's sole intention it is to intentionally die, to flame, to be abusive to go afk and not leave the game so they don't give us the bot.

Mobas are mobas and it's always going to attract this but I don't see this happening in League almost ever now.

What makes someone flame someone for making a mistake, then deciding that they are going to go afk to ruin the game surely this is a hypocritical paradox and they should just self implode?

I myself have been silenced for flaming these individuals and I honestly enjoyed the game more when I was forced not to communicate and I since have disabled team chat to stop me reacting so poorly but I just want help understanding how someone can spend 20 minutes ruining 9 others people fun and justify that. I'm on the spectrum and would love some insight.

I can never quit, I hold too much love for this game but understanding is what I seek 😄

Am I the only one who only only plays SL and never QM, to play games with "decent" team comps and matchmaking, because of draft/hero select, since QM is horrible?

TL/DR: QM is UNPLAYABLE... (and always has been).

The thing is, QM is a total mess and nightmare, and in SL you at least get to actually play HotS, because of draft:

- QM doesn't have the usual team comps of 2 DPS, one fighter, a tank, and healer (Im aware there are more META role compositions, but you get my point...). You instead get 4 DPSs, and a bruiser... SOMETIMES a healer, but forget about a tank in QM. In SL ppl will often go out of their way to fill roles from my experience. Yes, the game tries to put Healers vs Healers in QM, but it's rare.

Also, HotS is very balanced around having heroes from different roles IMO. It's not like in League, where champs are self sufficient, because they self heal or tank more, with runes and items, if they want.

- In QM, you don't know the map. A hero WILL be "S" or "C" tier, depending on which map it is. From the top of my mind, IDK: In BoE you want AAers who can race (Raynor with Exterminator, Valla, ZJ...) over Mages, in other maps you want heroes who are great at PvE, in Hanamura you aren't likely to play Diablo because its an open map with no walls, and so on...

- Picking and counterpicking: Correct me if I'm wrong, but some heroes totally negate others (As in 100% vs 0% chance to win), even more than in other MOBAs. For instance, if the enemy picks Anduin or ETC, you can instapick Liming for her "on demand" CC with "R", and they cannot pick Salvation/Pitmosh ever otherwise they troll,or instead they "1v5" if you have no CC in your draft to cut those ults. Tracer will stomp double mage comps or comps without ranged AAers, Tychus will delete double tank comps (Happened to me recently), Hammer just wins if the enemy doesnt have long range such as Stitches or Chromy, KT cant Pyroblast if the enemy has Maievs/Tracers or anything that has untargettable or immunity, some healers (Ana and Morales?) just explode vs specific heroes like Illidan/Tyrael/Tracer diving at them as they can't self peel like other Healers, and so on...

Other more extreme cases are: Butcher and Liming getting free meat and resets from Vikings, or Auriel and Chogall being kinda free elo (If you find ppl in Discord to play them together).

The game IS balanced around drafting. I'm pretty sure I've lost more games in HotS because of a bad drafts, over in other MOBAs like say LoL for example where "100% to 0" counters are rarer.

... Due to all of these reasons, if for instance I wanna practice Junkrat, I literally have to throw myself into SL, because QM is such an unrealistic scenario to try heroes in, as you're likely to get 4 DPS heroes per team. You cannot even learn/practice a hero, because QM is literally not "HotS" for me. It's really bad.

Not only that, forget about expecting your allies to do camps, or PvE. And I'm not saying ppl at SL are awesome at macro, but I swear god QM is terrible.

Random thoughts... And sorry for the format, I'm writing from the phone.

PS: Devs could've removed QM instead of Unranked, in all honesty. The game mode was healthier, if somebody actually Qeued.

Why are there not many IM Samuro players nowadays?

A few days ago, someone friended me just because they saw I was an IM Samuro.

That got me thinking about the IM vs Bladestorm debate.

Some IM Samuro players argue that Bladestorm is for unskilled players, Illusion Master is better overall. But I don’t think only noobs pick Bladestorm. Even very good Samuros pick Bladestorm often.

What do you think? Is IM just harder to pull off and people gave up on it, or has it become a bit useless after the nerf/rework? If it’s a bit useless now, how would you buff it? I think increasing clone durations by 2 seconds when you pick IM will be a good buff.

For context, I default to IM, mostly because it is way more fun and it fits my pvp focused playstyle, but I’ll switch to Bladestorm when opponents have better soak and I can trust my team for teamfights, like when I’m in a 5 stack.

Can you recruit friends yet?

Long story short, I left this game years ago, and decided to come back because a friend wanted a super chill MOBA game. I tried to recruit him, he successfully joined me but we saw no progress so I googled for a bit and some people claim recruit a friend is disabled for some reason.

Can someone tell me how to confirm if my friend's progress is being tracked?
