Skinny Dip - El Encanto

Recently visited Beacon Coffee shop in Falmouth (highly recommend a visit) and got a couple bags of DAK to try as well as something special from Skinny Dip who I've never heard of.

They're a roaster that buy women produced coffee and I got a bag of El Encanto because the flavours sounded unreal. It's like some weird banana bread blueberry muffin, in the best way. Super funky. And don't forget the blue bubblegum aroma... Insanely good.

The DAK I am resting is Fluffy Petals - Ethiopia (purple florals, citrus, baked peach, hops) and The Alchemist - Rwanda (tropical fruits, ripe fruits, cacao nibs)

Rwanda Appreciation

I've currently got too much coffee, 15 bags, but I noticed that my favourites are all from Rwanda so I wanted to share them and the roasters.

The Rave one is ok, not that special for the price but well roasted. I ordered a lot from Rave when I first started and wanted to check if I still liked them, wouldn't order again.

ManCoCo are consistently good roasters with interesting beans, this Rwandan has made one of my best cups maybe of this year. Highly recommend them.

Harmony is a new trial for me, I think they're a bit too expensive for what they're offering, not quite good enough value for me. Can really taste the apricot in one of them.

James Gourmet consistently great complex flavours that overall suit my taste more than the fruity floral eg Skylark. The value is outstanding too, when I can get superb coffee for just under £10 for 250g I find it's usually not worth the coin flip of a £20 bag that I might not like. That's my third bag of Mbare from them.

Tech info - B75 dripper, 12g 200ml (1:16), 2.2 on an X-Ultra (medium coarse), 95C, 30g bloom then usually two big pours, depending on how it drains.

Extra spice - I have two Zennor bags on the way (Kigeri Kiwi,Lime,Vanilla and Shyira Strawberry, Blackberry Fruit-tella) and am hoping for similar quality to Sweven, we'll see... Looks like my current plan is regular James Gourmet and occasional blowouts from Sweven or similar where I do find spending twice the price really blows my socks off (I recently had La Riviera - Sudan Rume and Anaya - Sidra, both were incredible)
