Do all Compliance Caseworkers at HMRC have to carry out site visits?

Do all Compliance caseworkers at HMRC do site visits? I 've been offered the role recently. I do love working with numbers, calculations, investigations, and to challenge discrepancies however I am dreading the site visits. i know that I won't enjoy it. Are all Compliance Caseworkers required to do site visits? I have also been offered another CS role at the same grade and I'm seriously considering taking that one instead if site visits are an unavoidable part of the Compliance Caseworker role. I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with experience in the job.

HMRC Compliance Caseworker vs DWP Self Employment Income and Expense Review Agent

I've been offered both jobs and I'm finding it really difficult to decide.
I'm not particularly keen on the 18-month training programme with HMRC, but I think I might enjoy the role more in the long run.
On the other hand, the DWP job pays slightly more, and the office is much closer to where I live. My commute would be around 25 minutes door-to-door, compared with about a 50-minute train journey to HMRC.
I'm a single mum, so time, flexibility, and work-life balance are really important to me.
Could anyone who has worked in either role share what the day-to-day job is actually like? Which would you choose and why?
For a bit of background, I have a range of office experience, enjoy problem-solving, and I'm good with calculations and working with numbers.
Also, which role generally involves less direct customer contact? I think a job with less face-to-face or phone contact would suit me better, as I may find constant customer interaction more stressful.

Career progression from EO to HEO/SEO in HMRC?

Hello everyone, I'm about to start as an EO Compliance Caseworker with HMRC.
A bit of background: I have a degree and 11 years of NHS administrative experience across a variety of roles. I'm currently a Placement Coordinator for a large NHS Trust, and I also line manage two administrators within the Learning & Development department.
I'll be honest – I'm feeling a little deflated. Based on my experience and current responsibilities, it feels like I'm taking a step backwards by starting at EO level. That said, this was completely my own decision. I've wanted to move from the NHS into the Civil Service for a while because I see it as a place where I can build a long-term career. So I'm not complaining or regretting the move – I'm just finding it a bit difficult mentally, knowing I'll be starting at a lower grade than I expected.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has started as an EO in HMRC. What does the career progression typically look like? How long did it take you (or someone you know) to move to HEO and then potentially SEO? Is progression mainly based on applying for vacancies, or are there good development opportunities within HMRC?
I'd love to hear your experiences or success stories. I'm hoping they'll reassure me that taking a step back now will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks in advance!

EO role

My niece is 18, has just finished her A levels, and has never had a paid job. She's interested in applying for an HMRC Executive Officer role.
Realistically, does she have a chance of being successful, or is it unlikely without any work experience?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who works for HMRC or the Civil Service. Have you seen school leavers get EO roles? What would you recommend she does to improve her chances?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

HMRC Campaign 558r - PECs

Hi, has anyone who received an offer through the HMRC Campaign 558R heard anything further regarding their PECs? Have you been given a start date yet?

I'm based in Cardiff and submitted my PEC form on the 15th, but I haven't received any further updates since then. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same position or has heard anything back. Thanks!
