GeForce NOW packet loss / stuttering despite perfect connection (Telekom, LAN, low ping)
Hey everyone,
I’m having a pretty frustrating issue with GeForce NOW and I can’t seem to figure out the cause.
My setup:
ISP: Telekom (Germany)
Connection: LAN (directly connected to FRITZ!Box, 1m CAT 8.1 cable)
Bandwidth: ~240 Mbps available
Ping: 13–15 ms (very stable)
Resolution: 4K (AV1 codec)
No WiFi involved
Problem:
Even though everything looks perfect on paper, I’m getting:
noticeable micro-stutters
occasional freezes
image degradation
In the GeForce NOW stats overlay:
Packet loss shows 0%, BUT with a high total count (e.g. 150+)
Frame/image drops also accumulate over time
So it seems like there are micro packet losses happening intermittently, even though the connection appears stable.
What I’ve already tried:
Different LAN cable
Direct connection to router (no switches, no powerline)
Changed DNS to 1.1.1.1
No other devices heavily using the network
What’s weird:
Ping is consistently low
Bandwidth is more than enough
Issue still occurs
My suspicion:
Could this be a Telekom routing / peering issue to NVIDIA servers (Frankfurt)?
Has anyone experienced similar issues with Telekom + GeForce NOW?
Did using a VPN or switching servers fix it for you?
Appreciate any insights 🙏
