Are the rumors about USAMO/IMO true

I keep seeing these sayings around the internet that getting usamo gets u a 25-50% chance at MIT, and getting an IMO gold is even higher, like around a 80-100

Please tell me what I'm gonna get into (if you can) chance immigrant oofy-doofy sub 5 recessed maxilla boy

Rising senior, not much I can change, but whatever, man. No hooks brootal.

School offers a lot of APs; I took as many as I possibly could

Demographic

Larger NYC area, 200k+ income

Immigrant from another country; my situation, assume its like a mix of domestic/international odds.

GPA: 3.98 (1 B in some random class; hated that class btw, top 1 worst class)

SAT: 1600

No rank

Intended major
I would prefer to do pure math or physics/astrophysics, maybe CS for some of these schools

Coursework

APs: took 10, taking 6 next year and self-studying 1 or 2 so far, all 5s and 1 3; next year I'll be taking the holy gauntlet of AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, etc// so these are very rigorous APs, not some oofy-doofy ones

DE: Calc 1- 3 + linear algebra + differential equations (those two last planning)

Awards/Honors: HMMT good placement (I can't tell what bc it's easy leak)(in November I'm not that cracked)/ AIME qual X2/ USACO plat/county science fair gold/ PUMAC placement/AMC top 5%/AP Scholar with distinction/FTC states

(AIME scores weren't that good cuz I didn't try that much, but as I could prob easily get at least USAMO qual if I lock in this year, although whether in time to update or not is gonna be a long shot)

Planning on qualifying for USAMO and USAPhO and sending updates senior year (is this gonna matter who knows? probably at least something)

ECs:
Developed an app that had like 250~ paying users and made $1000+ 12th grade

Some science club leadership 12th grade

Submitted a paper at some preprint thing (not peer reviewed so probably not that much weight)

Did some conference with a university with that paper

Made some oofy-doofy website and some rough coding projects, nothing good, just to fill the EC list or reference in essays

Tutored 5 kids for SAT

(maybe I can make a better number on the app or another decent one; who cares at this point? It's all over anyway; just run the essay grind, I guess I can add random stuff unto this I did over the years but of course if its some small thing Its not gonna move the needle)

Recommendations:

  • From a STEM and humanities teacher, STEM will probably be OK and humanities a little worse, but nothing bad/negative/ average worst case scenario, but definitely not glowing and good

As you can see, my app is pretty decent but not all that, so I plan on applying to 25- 30-ish schools, so all the Ivies, MIT, Caltech, and a few rough schools like Northeastern or something for the luck of the draw heart of the hards type shit.

Man, back in middle school, I thought colleges and universities were different things or something; I was pretty dumb on this stuff. A lot of it was my fault, yeah, but I had no guidelines for what makes a good EC or any connections, so it's not all on me, but I could've done some dumb ahh summer program or internship at least, but oh well, I chose to rot over the summer in my bed. Also, I'm trying my best to make the essays come out good; it's gonna be good, trust boyo.

Also tell me are olympiads valued anymore I mean with all the cheating and whatever as well as lower rates even before AI but I think in like 2000 USAMO was like 50% to MIT, something probably or was that just all rumors

list so far

  • Amherst College
  • Brown University
  • California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
  • Carnegie Mellon University
  • Columbia University
  • Cornell University
  • Dartmouth College
  • Duke University
  • Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Harvard University
  • Johns Hopkins University
  • New York University
  • Northwestern University
  • Princeton University
  • Stanford University
  • University of Chicago
  • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
  • University of Michigan
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • Yale University
  • +MIT
  • UCLA, UC Berkeley
  • (some random safeties in area
  • might add more

also give advice where to ED and EA

So for the safeties there all gonna be local colleges, and 1 would be one with like a 99% acceptance rate if it all goes awry, and some are like top 50 schools that the majority of the people in my school get into with way way lower stats

Iq practicality

What can you do with an IQ above 150+ that you can't do with 130+, in terms of job performance and this and that, I feel like you can create a good idea and become really rich with like a 125+ IQ. Even nobel prize have iqs in the 120-150 range.
It never really seems. that usefull y'know

Is this a good webstie

https://preview.redd.it/8uxniiqk1d6h1.jpg?width=1622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=784cc0d7928f0c2f261d2d76990a69a984c4988a

Direct comparisons

This test has actually been studied by university researchers unaffiliated with this website. This is pretty unusual for an internet test. Katie Logos, Neil Brewer, and Robyn L. Young (2021) tested 64 undergraduates in lab with the WAIS-II and this test. The average FSIQ on the WAIS was 111 and the average FSIQ on this test was 107. So it looks like the difficulty of this test is not much different than the WAIS. The correlation between the two was r=0.57. This is lower than the correlation between the WAIS and the 2nd most popular IQ test which I calculate to be 0.67. So, this test does not appear to be as reliable as the top two professional IQ tests, but gets somewhat close. And this is expected as this test is designed to take much less time (15 minutes, versus 75 minutes for the WAIS).

Indirect comparisons

Among takers of this test who reported an ACT score (n=398), the correlation with FSIQ on this test was r=0.55. Baade & Schoenberg (2004) summarize 5 studies that correlated ACT scores with Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale FSIQ and the average was r=0.73.

Can you give more accurarte tests
