Muse, if you’re reading this, Thank you
This is totally early and I’m so aware that this album is going to have a honeymoon phase. But I can definitely say, I have NEVER been this excited for a new Muse album.
I joined the fandom when Dig Down was released and I was like “oh, this is…different.” I enjoyed ST for what it was, but it was missing the sparkle that only Muse brings to the table.
WOTP, to me, is a “the world is on fire, and we wanna have fun because the world is too screwed up right now to really take this seriously” album. And when I listen to it like that, it’s a blast from start to finish. It’s just straight fun. It sounds like the kind of album that has Matt just kinda laughing in the mixing room next to Dan.
But this, what this album is shaping up to be, feels like the album the fandom has been waiting for since the end of the holy trinity. There’s not a single song so far that hasn’t been an absolute banger in my book. (Keep in mind I have a super soft spot for “Fix You” by coldplay and “Be With You” absolutely scratches the exact same soft spot for me) and this treasure hunt for Hexagons has completely blown the doors off my expectations for the album sonically.
Can this album still be a mixed bag? Yeah it can…but with THESE being the singles for it, I consider that chance FAR lower than in previous years.
