Where to go? DUBAI OR UK? MAKE A SPUND PROFILE BASED CALL.
I’m trying to decide between pursuing my Master’s in HRM from Dubai or the UK, and I’d genuinely appreciate realistic advice from people who’ve studied/worked there.
A little context:
- I’m from India.
- My family already has a ₹30 lakh loan, so ROI and financial stability matter a lot.
- I’m sure about pursuing a Master’s abroad, specifically in HRM/People Management related fields.
My_qualifications :- 10th - 92% , 12th - 94%, bsc Hons Zoology, ba psychology, 2.5 years teaching work ex.
Dubai pros:
- Tax-free salaries
- Better ROI comparatively
- Born there, so I already feel some relatability/familiarity
- Have a few connections there
- Closer to home/family
- Seems to be growing in business, education, HR, and service sectors
Dubai worries:
- Very hot weather/culture adjustment
- Mostly work visas; no proper permanent residency pathway unless you’re very lucky
- Fear of not getting sponsored after graduation
- High cost of living
UK pros:
- Better universities/programs for HRM
- I genuinely like the weather, aesthetics, and overall environment there
- 2-year post-study work visa
- More exposure/diversity academically
UK worries:
- Job market seems extremely saturated right now
- Unemployment concerns
- Not tax-free, salaries get taxed heavily
- Expensive tuition + living costs
- Far from family/home country support system
- No connections there
- Slight fear that the gloomy weather/lifestyle may affect mental health long term
My long-term goal is stability + decent quality of life + good career growth in HR/people management.
If you were in my position, which would you choose and why? Also, how realistic is it to recover the investment in both countries considering the current market?
Would especially love hearing from:
- Indians in HR roles abroad
- People currently studying in UK/Dubai
- Anyone who chose one over the other and either regrets it or is happy with it
