Wizard "Ranks"

Edit: Tarilis found an amazing source for my Ranking System for Wizards for a Wizard School. I have updated my table. Any ideas, comments, or suggestions; all are greatly appreciated!

Rank Grade Meaning World Equivalent
The Golden Dawn (Outer Order) E 🏫Student Newly admitted initiates learn the foundations of magic.
D 🏫Probationer Accepted into formal magical study and being evaluated for future advancement.
C 🏫Neophyte Has demonstrated the ability to practice magic independently.
B 🏫Zelator Has mastered the fundamentals of magical theory and practice.
A- 🏫Practicus Trusted with advanced study, research, and great magical responsibility.
A 🏫🎓Philosophus Understands the principles behind magic and is considered a scholar of the Art.
The Rose Cross (Inner Order) A+ ⭐ Dominus Liminis Translates to “Master of the Threshold.” Stands between student and master, possessing exceptional promise and achievement.
S ⭐⭐ Adeptus Minor Recognised as having achieved mastery of a magical discipline.
⭐⭐⭐ Adeptus Major Widely respected authority whose work influences the broader magical community.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Adeptus Exemptus One of the foremost living mortal wizards whose influence extends beyond their own field of study.
The Silver Star (Third Order, bestowed by history rather than rank) Babe of Abyss One who has crossed beyond conventional magical understanding and returned transformed.  Their Perspective on reality is forever changed, often placing them at odds with ordinary wizards.
Magister Templi Remembered as a steward, teacher, founder, or protector of magical knowledge.
Magus Has fundamentally changed magical knowledge, theory, or civilisation itself.
Ipsissimus Has transcended mortal limitations and achieved a near-perfect understanding of reality.

Notes

  • A wizard’s rank and legacy are not the same thing.  The Golden Dawn measures education.  The Rose Cross measures standing within the magical community.  The Silver Star is not a rank at all, but a collection of titles bestowed by history upon those whose actions, teachings, or discoveries leave a lasting mark upon the world.

Examples

  • Elminster would be an Adeptus Exemptus, Chosen of Mystra, acknowledged by many as a Magus.
  • Vajra, the current Blackstaff, would be considered an Adeptus Exemptus and hold the title of Magister Templi.
  • Karsus was an Adeptus Exemptus, remembered as a Magus

Hey, I am working on creating my own TTRPG system. I am not sure if I want it to be a DnD 5e system or if I want to make my own. I have been slowly coming back to this, as it's my current hyperfixation, and figured I'd slowly work on filling out my outline. The concept is that my players will be students in a magic school.

I am working on creating Ranks. I saw this post and really liked the concept, but wanted to have names rather than just ranking numbers.
