I have a fresh install of the AppStore version of ManicEmu on my iPhone and iPad. I have also deleted whatever storage ManicEmu had on my iCloud from a previous install.
Just to keep things simple I have put a single Gameboy rom that’s 66kb in size on my iPad. I enable iCloud sync for ManicEmu on both iPad and iPhone.
Sure enough the rom appears on my iPhone but when I try to run the game it gets stuck in loading (Pac-Man) indefinitely.
So I close ManicEmu and reopen it on my iPhone now I see that the “iCloud not enabled” despite the toggle being on. I also noticed that even if the “iCloud Synched” message is displayed the rom is not present in the Datas folder.
Did anyone else go through something similar?
Edit: When I change the app icon on the iPad, that is reflected on the iPhone after several minutes. But the roms never see to sync up no matter how much I wait
Edit2: Solved! Logging out and back in to iCloud on the source device (iPad) fixed it. Should have tried this first.
Looks like some wonkiness having to do with a leftover rogue sync was preventing the App from creating the Manic Emu container folder on the iCloud Drive. All good now and the problem had nothing to do with ManicEmu
After more than a year of SideStore, LiveContainer, Just-In-Time, and wonky Roms, I’ve decided to go back to simpler things.
Several days ago I missed my SideStore update and while I was trying to figure out how the Entitlement app works again, I decided that I was done. It took less than 30 seconds to delete LiveContainer with everything that I had diligently worked on, as well the VPN apps.
It feels I got a lot back, including the time taken to mess with parameters just to get things working at 5fps if at all, the peace of mind of not having to worry about compatibility whenever there’s an iOS update, and of course storage space on my iPad which I was desperately short on.
Now I’ve reinstalled the AppStore version of ManicEmu and once again playing the games that really matter to me sentimentally and I feel like a kid again
Why is this even a thing? 9x9 13x13 19x19 are essentially different games. I don’t think it should be a prerequisite to be good at 9x9 before being able to play other board sizes, especially when there are strong players playing 9x9. I’ve been stuck around 750 and feels like I will never be able to play any other board sizes on this platform. I know that most players are bots so it should at least be that they be calibrated so that 1000 ELO is attainable by beginners after they have experienced a handful of games and learned the rules and rudimentary techniques
I swear things were fine the last time I played a PSP game on ManicEmu but now it seems that I am missing some fonts. They are not replaced by placeholders but completely blank. Changing renderers didn’t fix it either. Anybody else have this problem?
