Learning to Yolo, in General?

In the recent 1 vs 1 brawls I fully understand how terrible my yolo, and yolo defense, is. For many years in Killer Whale I have watched some players charge into bot ships and do well doing that. I have always done poor doing that, and perhaps it is time I learn this skill, but what should I practice this skill? My plan now is to try out Okotnik in random at tier 5, and just charge into caps and congestion, which normally I stay on the outside, and carefully select where and when to get closer. Is this a good method to practice yoloing, or are there better ways to get better at this skill? ( without being a severe handicap for my team )

Perhaps I am missing something that makes these new Cross-Fires increase our satisfaction and enjoyment. A few examples will make my point clear. In Hermes when we are facing the line of 4 bbs, now they have introduced some ships on the opposite side, perhaps a few dds and cruiser or two. We have to rotate our guns, while we are fighting 4 bbs, and this gets overwhelming, especially if they drop in a few mine fields, one after another.
In Raptor Rescue, when we are facing a convoy of 3 bbs on the port, they are now introducing several ships on the starboard, and once again we have to rotate our guns to deal with the snell boats or cruisers or regular dd.
Perhaps they should introduce new cross-fires as some kind of penalty, like they have in hockey or soccer? Should they include these as something new, and not just make the game harder, and not necessarily more fun?
Any other opinions on this?
