Building a vessel tracker for singapore harbour - Need input

Hi,

Currently doing a side project where im playing around with AIS data and started building a vessel tracker for ships with destination Singapore.

Something like:

1.Enter vessel name Ship IMO/MMSi

  1. Get current location and speed with ETA

3.Get notifications by email when close / entering harbour. And see ship on live map

  1. Notifications on when ship anchors/berths

So just wondering if there is any usecase for this? And if anyone is willing to give it a try when im finished building (likely next week). And of course any feedback would be really welcome!

Built a Singapore port congestion tracker as a hobby project — looking for feedback from maritime/freight professionals

I'm a developer with no maritime background who built portinsight.io to track AIS data for Singapore harbour. I'm tracking metrics like berth occupancy, anchor wait times, and vessel counts.

Before I invest more time in it, I'd love input from people who actually work in shipping or freight forwarding:

- Are these the right metrics? What do you actually care about day-to-day? - Is 3.9h average wait time for departed vessels a useful number, or misleading? - What data would make this genuinely useful for your work?

Not trying to promote anything — just want to build something actually useful for the industry
