Beginner Fishing Advice

Hey everyone!

I’m just starting out with fishing and got a variety of lures from Amazon, paddle-tails, crankbaits, a frog and some craws and rubber worms.

I’ll be heading to the Grand River near Caledonia or the Binbrook Conservation Area. I’m using a 6’2” medium action rod with monofilament. I’ve got my license and plan to do catch-and-release only.

Could anyone kindly suggest which lures I might start with, ideal times or conditions for them and what fish I might expect in these spots?

Any beginner-friendly tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a sensory swing for my kids and need some advice on how to mount it safely in my basement.

The kit came with four wood screws, a hook, and a carabiner. I’m trying to figure out the best place to install the hook, should it go directly into a 2x4 ceiling joist, or into the wooden paneling between the joists?

I’m also a bit concerned about splitting the wood. Will drilling four screws into a 2x4 cause it to crack?

If anyone has experience installing one of these, I’d appreciate some guidance on the proper and safest way to mount it.

Thanks in advance!
