Mouth Infection
27F and trying not to spiral because this keeps progressing and I’m confused.
Monday: noticed one swollen gum on the bottom front of my mouth. That was my only symptom.
Tuesday: it progressed to multiple swollen gums, I developed two canker sores, and my lymph nodes became swollen/tender. I went to urgent care and they told me it was likely from stress/a weakened immune system and to monitor it.
Wednesday: I developed a fever, my throat started hurting, and it became increasingly inflamed. Swallowing became painful and my lymph nodes got even more painful.
Thursday: my fever still hadn’t gone down, my throat looked significantly worse, and I felt awful, so I went back to urgent care. They tested me for strep and it came back negative, but because everything looked inflamed they prescribed me a Z-pack (azithromycin).
I’m now on day 2 of the Z-pack and my throat looks horrible, very swollen tonsils with white patches, fever ranging throughout the day at 100-102, my gums are still very swollen, I have sores in my mouth, and my lymph nodes are still swollen.
Has anyone had something similar? Did it end up being strep, mono, viral tonsillitis, HSV, something autoimmune, etc?
I did get tested for strep via swabbing of my throat but it came back negative.
I also have my wisdom teeth still that are half visible and get irritated a lot- not sure that's a contributing factor?
