Can someone tell me what this is? My mom’s had it going on for a month now and it hasn’t healed. HELP
haven't slept more than a few hours in 2 days bc of the pain and it's gotten worse since these pictures.
Hi there.
A few days ago I thought a had an ucler on my inner lower lip cause I had some irritation. But then I realised that I had something like a bump, which was just tissue, no wound or something.
I have pain only when i bite it while eating, and slight pain when it rubs on my teeth.
It's been approximately a week, and now it looks like the photo.
Do you think it's anything serious? What should I do?
I am getting stressed.
Info about me:
27F, 52kg and 153cm
No current medication. Started recently taking omega 3 supplements, low dose iron and magnesium.
Currently non smoker. I smoked in the past and stopped 3 years ago but I was never a heavy smoker.
I hope this is the highest form of pain you'll receive. (nobody deserves more than this)
A problem a teenage (15-16 y/o) should not be depression or some emotional deep thing. I mean…, cliché questions (“what’s my value in this world?”) are kind of understandable but there is something much deeper—Pain.
Pain is a feeling that gives you discomfort, a big discomfort, a rly big discomfort. Again, this trauma/depression bs is not pain, it’s an excuse for a failure (mind me I am talking about kids who say the exam was traumatizing). They did not see the final boss come.
At some stage in life, we progress through adolescence. Where physical and emotional changes happen drastically. And there is a certain pain that will break you, get you addicted to the pain and end up hurting yourself. Behold…/*drum roll*
Congratulations, you have the last moral before wisdom tooth/teeth at last stage of growth /*fahhhhh*. Genuinely, the discomfort at this level is a—WOW. First the edge of the tooth will almost break through the gum, and naturally you rub it with your tongue. Once you do, there is no coming back. Then, the tooth will break out and you start feeling a sharp thing. Again, naturally, you rub it with your tongue repeatedly.
Now, you are at the stage where half of the tooth broke out and the other half is hardened (gonna come out soon…). Again…naturally, you rub. You rub it again and again to the level you start bleeding from your gum but you still don’t stop. You are addicted at this point. You rub it again and again to the level your tongue hurts.
This is the most painful part—1/4th of your moral under the covered part is the only left and you can feel your tooth by rubbing your tongue. Here, rubbing is not the only thing you do. You press it with your finger slightly lifting the meat covering that part. Now the dose of addiction will get you high. You drool since you open your mouth too long (to move your tongue, and you look like a freak btw).
Yeah, undoubtedly more painful than self-proclaimed “trauma”.
Though, this is just a natural phase, eventually passes, then you live—your life. Here is the thing, some kids are unfortunate enough to feel pain more than this. Some lose their body, some are just born without some organs. Or, like in recent occasions(these days…) they lose their family.
What I am trying to say to any teenager questioning things and think they are paining. Nobody gives a thing and you should not too.
May God protect us from greater pain than your MoRal tooth growing /*fahhhhh*
I cant get a better picture of it than that because of my fat tongue...
I've had a "sore throat" for about a week, hurts when talking, swallowing, eating, sometimes drinking, and especially yawning. It feels inflamed and until yesterday I thought it was a general pain but now that I've tried to get an eye on it and seen this white spot it feels more like it's only on the one side.
I tried to eat some soup with old bay and even thats too spicy for it... miserable.
As much as it sucks I'm hoping it's just a canker sore and not anything else so hopefully it'll resolve on its own.
I dint get canker sores often I've had maybe 2 or 3 in my life but usually on the lip or cheek.
Canker sores are the WORST....So Painful 😢.
I couldn't take it anymore.
I’ve gone 2 days without brushing teeth. No ulcers / sores or issues. After I finally brush, I get mouth ulcers/canker sores! Why is that? I’ve read that it could be a reaction to one of the ingredients in mg toothpaste. Makes me reluctant to brush hence why I’m here. Toothbrush is maybe 2 months old. Supposed to replace every 3-4 mos. I use hello brand toothpaste. No one else in the home uses it, just me. Also noticed this pattern with other toothpastes ..
Hi,
I'm 16(F) and for the past 3+ years, I've had chronic daily mouth ulcers. 8 months earlier, I lost my ability to play my clarinet and saxophone because anytime I ate or put anything in my mouth in general, I'd bleed - I had to decide between playing and eating. I was in two bands and was living off of smoothies for about 3 months.
It's gotten bad enough I've been going to Shands off and on; I've bounced between 2 different specialists and am off to another pair, and here locally, I only see a dermatologist. My dentist even recognizes me as an extreme oddity. That aside, I feel no doctor I've met with takes me seriously other than my dermatologist; I really need some help. I'm stressing over so many different possibilities and I'm so scared that this might end up so much worse.
It started out when I was younger; I remember at least having canker sores when I was about 8; it was the first time I had ever gotten strep and now I'm super prone to it; after every bout my flares get worse. They popped up every once in a while back then, but over the years, they've gotten persistently worse. I really couldn't tell you when exactly I started having them daily; it's all a huge blur and I never documented it, but I even think it's been closer to 5 years. I wish I could've documented them back then, but my doctors all told me it was normal for a hormonal girl to have canker sores and wrote it off. I'm not trying to throw anyone under the bus, but I know my history is longer than 3 years. I also experience all 3 types of Apothe Ulcers -herpetiform, minor, major. They also appear in my throat and have permanently altered my voice to sound more raspy (I got a scope done though and they said they didn't see any scarring, but my throat looked irritated; I've seen them in the back of my throat before though and have had that same sensation further down.)
I want to take a moment to talk about some other symptoms of mine, other than the extreme mouth ulcers I can get.
I've been experiencing joint pain in the shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, wrists and fingers for YEARS. I started having issues when I was about 9. For some context (not sure if it means anything, as I would've likely been over it by now), I was a competitive swimmer (6-8) as well as a musician (12-present [play flute & etc.]), so maybe that could explain some of it in the wrists and fingers, but my wrists started way before I ever got into music. My shoulders are the worst in comparison to the others. I remember taking a state standardized writing test when I was 11 and crying because there was such a BAD pain in my shoulder out of no where and I was panicking. My shoulders always hurt a little and hurt more with movement since I was 9, and I remember seeing an Orthopedist when I was about 12 for it once. They saw nothing wrong with my shoulder and referred me to rheumatology at Shands, but we never went.
I've had some GI issues for a while now - not necessarily stomach pain, but in my intestines. I have diarrhea about 1-2x days a week, sometimes more and similar with being constipated. Sometimes I feel something "drop" in my intestine and it's painful- it doesn't matter if I have diarrhea or am constipated, it'll happen for both although it's not as common as it was. Not sure if this would fit the category here either, but I also wake up nearly daily with an extreme sore throat - it doesn't matter if I have postnasal drip or not, I will usually have a sore throat (like I have right now). Sometimes it's mild, but right now and often, it's very sore.
I also have been having a dry tongue; I mentioned this to my dentist I saw Tuesday and she immediately downplayed it saying the rest of my mouth looks wet - that's not the point. It's only my tongue that's dry and it's super irritating. Anything I eat/drink leaves a BAD aftertaste in my mouth and I think it started about 6 months ago. Ontop of that, I don't think my tastebuds are growing back properly; I've lost a lot of my taste over the past few years.
Another weird thing related to "dryness" - I have issues crying out of my left eye and have for years. I remember back when I was 9, I had a hard time crying from it unless I was bawling my eyes out. Sometimes, after blinking, my vision also goes blurry, and this can be in either eye or both; it can last from 30s-20min. I also don't sweat unless I'm on my period.
My symptoms cross over multiple areas and I'm an oddity due to my normal bloodwork - everything has come back normal, including the Ig family, vitamins, viral; everything is normal. I feel like no doctor I've been seeing is taking this matter seriously, even though it's clearly affecting my quality of life. The only thing my ulcers have been responsive to is colchicine and I just started about 3-4 weeks ago. I noticed they're smaller than normal and I had a day where I didn't have any - that was the best day I've had in my life.
I'd also like to briefly skim over family history - my paternal uncle died when I was about 9, so I can't ask him personally, but according to everyone, his story is the only one that matches mine. Growing up, he was on a lot of antibiotics for strep and other things. I just question what really was going on - my grandpa has psychosis and told me that before he died he was diagnosed with some kind of disease, but I can't really tell you if that's true or not. His death was very traumatic (he was hit by a train around christmas) and my family cannot decide between murder, suicide or accident because all evidence points in either direction. That aside though, he did have a very similar history to me.
My parents both have had a history of canker sores - my dad gets them all the time (not as much as I do though). His can range between herpetiform and minor ulcers typically, although sometimes he has a major ulcer. His other siblings all have a history with them as well, but the extent, I'm not so sure. My paternal grandfather also has a history of them (he told me to put rubbing alcohol on them multiple times, but I don't take his advice for obvious reasons). He gets minor ones, and his wife also can get them (rarely).
My dad, on an unrelated note, has an occasional episode where he feels like he's going to pass out or have a stroke (it's really scary). Doctors can't do anything for him because he's a stickler about going to the doctor. He's a 42 y/o mechanic though, so maybe that could cause something weird. I just know I should mention that.
My question is, what does this sound the most like? Please, if you have a moment to give a potential answer, I'd really like to know. I'm tired of going to doctors offices (specifically Shands) just to be introduced and be let down. What are the next steps? I'm scheduled for oral medicine and rheumatology but I have no idea when there appointments are. I'm open to more questions if those are needed, I'm just in dire need of help. I'm losing the ability to like my life.
Thank you so much for taking time into reading this and I hope you all have an amazing day!
So like starting about 3 weeks ago mby 2,5 i got like 4 of these within like a week and a half, one has healed but this one, one on my upper lip and one under my tounge are stubbornly sticking around
I have gotten canker sores before but very few and far between
Ive been trying a special mouth wash this past week but havent done much idk, got any advice?
So I’ve had these ulcers on the right side and the left side of my tongue for months now. They never go away, but I do have one or two days a week where they’re not hurting me. I am diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, but from what I’ve been told the ulcers that usually accompany my auto immune disease are not symmetrical. I have an appointment with the oral surgeon on Monday to get it biopsied. I can’t live like this anymore. It’s so painful. It hurts to talk, eat and drink. I tried magic mouthwash, prescription pastes, warm salt water, warm water with baking soda, lidocaine gel, etc, and nothing really seems to work. I can maybe get 30 minutes of relief but that’s it. Anybody have anything that resembles this and have any idea what it ? I know I have my biopsy on Monday, but I’m just wondering if I’m alone.
Thanks
Had a normal canker sore 2 weeks ago, bit the area really badly last Saturday. Lots of blood. This past week I’ve been using Mylanta on it (was told to) and then kanka. Used baking soda rinse on it yesterday. Was noticing some red irritation on my lip (where the white part is now). I think the kanka irritated my lip and now it’s now turned into this. You can see the actual canker sore, which is basically healed. But what do I do about this new thing? It’s huge. Doesn’t hurt (yet).
If so what can I do to treat it because literally everything I consume burns. Just got my wisdom teeth removed so I’m definitely dealing with pain from that too
I really hate starting posts on Reddit but I have had such dramatic results I am forcing myself to in case it helps anyone else. I have had relentless canker sores since I was around 9-10 years old, always developing them in horribly painful clusters, usually going no more than 1-2 weeks free of sores. Any kind of injury to my mucosal tissue always resulted in sores which has been awful because I have sharp teeth and I bite my lip and cheek frequently. Nightmarish after visits to a dentist where they use tools in the mouth.
In June I started taking 12mg Astaxanthin as a pill daily because I was going to be spending time in the sun and in addition to sunscreen and hats I wanted to try another layer of protection. My current canker sores in June healed and the next round never started. In mid July I realized I had gone a very long time without canker sores forming. By August I knew this was absolutely abnormal and started trying to think of what had changed. Really the only thing I have never taken before is the Astaxanthin. I did a literature search and it turned up a patent that described basically what happened to me: canker sore remission 3 weeks after starting in his case 2mg daily, as a trial he stored the treatment and the sores came back, returning to the treatment put the sores into remission again: https://patents.google.com/patent/US6344214B1/en
I have bitten my lips and cheek repeatedly since taking Astaxanthin. I have felt a tiny pinpoint pre-sore forming and then instead of progressing to a canker sore breakout it heals.
I am not associated with any Astaxanthin supplement company. I used Nutricost just because I have experience with the brand and the price for 12mg Astaxanthin was good. I have no idea if this is the optimal dose, the patent describes the same effect at 2mg (though my remission happened faster than the 3 weeks described in the patent.) I have no idea if this is the best brand it's just the one I used.
This is an N=1 case but nothing has ever prevented canker sores for me and I started taking Astaxanthin for completely unrelated reasons not expecting this result. I hope my experience helps someone.
Hi all! So ive had this ulcer (i think its an ulcer) for a little over 2 weeks now. I'm prone to them and always get them, but this one is super deep and swollen, and I dont think ive ever had one like this before. I don't know if its healing, and I dont know if I should see a doctor since I dont wanna accidentally waste their time. Thanks in advance :)
So... I've dealt with canker sores for a very very long time, about 20 years and had a bunch of recurring sores the last few months with at least 2-3 large ones at a time and finally went into the doctor, which might seem kind of dumb after 20 years lol. And I've been lurking here for several years and tried so many things people have recommended, the last thing I thought would work is vitamin D. But sure enough, I did blood labs and the doctor prescribed me a high once a week dose of vitamin d and it's been 2 months since I have yet to have a canker sore. I feel so dumb, but I wanted to share this in case it might help someone else, vitamin d was the last thing I thought would affect it the way it has!
