Cisapride interactions?
We have an 18yr MN DSH who has chronic pancreatitis and is currently having a flare and not feeling good. He’s hiding and not eating much.
We’ve seen our vet and our cat is at home and on buprenorphine and SQ fluids and maropitant, but he’s still not really eating. Our vet has gone back-and-forth about starting him on ondansetron too, but is wary because he’s also on cisapride for chronic constipation. She’s worried about a possible drug interaction because of what cisapride does in humans.
He’s had an echo before and has very very mild early HCM but no murmur. He’s also on budesonide (steroid) for suspected IBD.
Do you all use maropitant and ondansetron in cats on cisapride and/or have you seen side effects? We really want to get our sweet old man feeling better and eating.
