Iron in midlane

I recently switched from playing bot lane to mid lane and have been trying out Malzahar and Brand. I’ve enjoyed both, but I’m struggling to find a champion that really fits what I’m looking for.

I’m still pretty new to the game (currently Iron), and one of my biggest issues is getting caught out of position or not doing enough damage and instantly dying. Malzahar feels safe, but I struggle to actually win lane and get solo kills. Brand does a ton of damage, but he feels just as squishy as Malz and I get blown up if I make a mistake.

I know I’m basically asking for the perfect champion, but are there any mid laners that are:
Relatively easy to play
A bit tankier and more forgiving
Able to win 1v1s and get kills
Strong in team fights
Viable as I improve and climb

I’m looking for someone who can actually survive getting hit a few times instead of exploding the second I misposition. Any recommendations?

Mid lane suggestions

Hi!
I’ve been playing Malzahar and Brand mid and have been enjoying him because he’s easy to learn and lets me focus on the basics of the game. I’m currently Iron, so I’m still pretty new and make plenty of mistakes.

I was wondering if there are any other mid laners that are relatively easy to play but a bit tankier. One of my biggest problems right now is getting caught out of position and instantly dying. I’d also like a champion that can get a lot of kills while being forgiving enough to survive some mistakes as I learn the game. Ideally, I’m looking for a tankier, easy-to-play mid laner that gives me a little more room for error without sacrificing carry potential.

Ideally I’m looking for a mid laner that:
Is easy to pick up
Can get a lot of kills/carry games
Has enough health or survivability that being slightly out of position isn’t an automatic death sentence
Remains viable as I improve and climb

Any recommendations?

Iron midlaner

I’ve been playing Malzahar mid because I’m pretty new to League and he’s been great for learning the game. His kit is straightforward, I don’t have to worry about crazy mechanics, and he lets me focus on farming, map awareness, and basic macro.
The problem is that everywhere I look people say Malzahar becomes pretty useless once you get above Bronze and that he doesn’t have much carry potential compared to other mids.
I’m looking for a mid laner that:
Can get a lot of kills and carry games
Isn’t super punishing if my positioning or mechanics aren’t perfect
Has enough survivability to not instantly explode in teamfights
Can still be played effectively as I climb instead of eventually having to drop the champion
Basically, I’d like a champion that’s beginner-friendly but has a much higher ceiling than Malzahar. I don’t mind putting time into learning them, but I don’t want something like Azir where I need flawless mechanics just to function.
Who would you recommend and why?
