CFW and media files problems
I have 2 questions to get my rig right...
CFW question
I got a psp 1000 at a second hand store recently in hopes of modding it. I found out it has the CFW "3.40 oe-a" from what found out its SUPER old from 2007 if im remembering correctly. I have tried get the firmware off but it just shuts down. I have tried almost every avenue. i found an old youtube video from like 16 years ago that shows how to get the firmware off and updated to something newer. I had already tried the process he was doing BUT in the description he updated recently that if your just getting a black screen then to get a sony branded 2gb memory stick to change the firmware. I have been using a microcenter 128gb with an adaptor. I am hoping that is my problem and im not stuck with this firmware. has anyone had a problem like this? was it easy for them? does any of this sound right?
.wav and .mp3 files not reading
I want to also use the psp as a media player for music. I have read abunch on the files that the psp can read as far as audio from what i understand the psp can read .wav, .mp3 and .flac if you mod it to do so. I have a bunch of ripped cds the format of cds ar 16 bit .wav files. my psp wont read them. BUT i got and audio book that was a mp3 cd and it read that file that i ripped. so i set up a macro on audacity to convert the wavs to mp3. still wont read them. (weird) I downloaded a bunch of mixtapes, all of them downloaded as a mp3 file. I thought perfect i dont have to convert any of them. only some of them read like 5% the others just show the folder of the artist name, just like it had been doing with the wav files. I checked the info on both the mp3s that could be read by the psp and those that couldnt. there is nothing under the more info that shows anything different. to make things worse or more confusing some of the artist folders have like 1 song all from a different artist. an example would be an album by blood orange has 16 songs by another artist ALL the same song. this psp has ghosts or something. nothing makes sense with the media it can read rn.
the only thing I can guess about this problem is that its the CFW that is on the psp that is making the files not readable. im in too deep to give up. I want to have all my music on this thing and i want to play silent hill from the ps1. not too much to ask. super big thank you to anyone that can help me i have modded alot of nintendo products but i really want to get into the psp platform.
